HIDDEN SECTERTS OF THE JEWIS QUARTER OF PEST (January 16, 2022)

Are you curious about the former inhabitants of the historic Jewish quarter and the stories of the buildings? Have you heard of the Hungarian Schindler and the secret savior of the Pest ghetto? Did you know that the construction of a gigantic synagogue in Pest failed? How did Tell Vilmos get on the Hungarian card? We will answer these and many other questions as we trace lesser-known buildings, human destinies, and stumbling blocks.

Monday’s “Cathedral Organ Concerts” is the only series of concerts in St. Stephen’s Basilica where visitors to the concerts can hear the Angster organ of the Basilica’s world-famous monument.

The performances at the largest and most beautiful concert organ in Budapest will start at 5 pm on Mondays at the specified times.

The duration of the concerts is 45 minutes.

In addition to the organists of the Basilica, the concerts will feature singers and instrumental contributors, as well as organ works by Albinoni, Caccini, Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Gounod, Bizet, Rachmaninoff, Cesar Franck and Ferenc Liszt.

All information about the exact program of the performances and the St. Stephen's Basilica can be found in Hungarian and English on our website http://www.organconcert.hu under the "Programs" menu item.

We cannot admit a child under the age of 6 to the concert!

A hétfői „Cathedral Organ Concerts” az egyetlen hangversenysorozat a Szent István Bazilikában, amelyen a Bazilika világhírű műemlék Angster-orgonáját hallhatják a hangversenyek látogatói.

Budapest legnagyobb és legszebb hangú koncertorgonáján az előadások a hétfői napokon a megadott időpontokban 17 órakor kezdődnek.

A hangversenyek időtartama 45 perc.

A hangversenyeken a Bazilika orgonaművészei mellett énekes és hangszeres közreműködő művészek is fellépnek, Albinoni, Caccini, Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Gounod, Bizet, Rachmaninoff, Cesar Franck és Liszt Ferenc orgonaműveit és leghíresebb templomi áriáit szólaltatják meg.
