After the fall of the Communist regime in Hungary in 1989, many of the Communist statues and monuments were immediately removed. And if you wonder, what happened to them... the most iconic ones are still on display, even if not in the most central parts of the city anymore. Memento Park is an open air museum in Budapest, dedicated to monumental statues from Hungary's Communist period (1949–1989). There are statues of Lenin, Marx, and Engels, as well as Hungarian Communist leaders. This museum, beyond its role as a tourist attraction, also functions as a cultural and educational site housing art projects, festivals, professional and public events. If you are interested in history, you shouldn't miss it.

East Side Hostel Budapest is located in the heart of the city, almost directly across the street from Nyugati Pályaudvar, the main railway station, making it easy to arrive. Getting to our hostel has never been that easy - just watch this video with the directions from the metro station.

There are two exits from the metro station, look for 'Szent István krt.' sign. When you leave the station, cross the underpass, and walk towards the Burger King, then take a left, and walk up the stairs. When you reach the surface, on your right you'll see one of the most iconic meeting points in Budapest, the rotating clock, and behind it, the beginning of Jókai utca. Walk a few more metres, our hostel is in the second building from the corner, under number 38. Go the intercom, and press the code for East Side Hostel Budapest.
