Villa Oost Indies - an elite haven
Villa Oost Indies are among the most recommended holiday accommodations in Bali. A great options, both for holiday and honeymoon. Distinguished by a historical Javanese ‘joglo’ living pavilion and contemporary-colonial architecture, the exquisite Villa Oost Indies Seminyak (formerly Villa Des Indes 2) presents choice of luxury 2 and 3 bedrooms, a swimming pool and garden.
Original colonial-style furnishings produced from indigenous teakwood and rattan by local craftsmen interpret Dutch designs, while reflecting the desires of the colonial era with lazy planter chairs, marble-topped tables and washstands, sumptuous silks, Chinese and Indonesian antiques, artefacts and curios. Here, in atmospheric luxury, guests can look forward to a captivating journey back through time, combined with the exemplary services of personal butlers and a top-class chef. Much of the antique timber from the century-old joglo – which was once the home of a Javanese nobleman – has been utilised, and can be seen throughout Villa Oost Indies in the form of wood-panelled screen walls and recycled teakwood floors. Yet the 21st century comes into its own with all the modern comforts, ranging from air-conditioning to flat screen TVs and DVD players in the bedrooms, steaming monsoon showers in the bathrooms, and the facilities of a fully-equipped high-tech kitchen. Villa Oost Indies is securely positioned just 400 metres from Petitenget Beach, Seminyak, and only a short stroll from a wide choice of internationally-acclaimed restaurants, beach clubs, spas, bars, shops and chic boutiques.

Warung Wahaha, the place where you can find the famous pork ribs. But their others dish like fried rice and bacon cheeseburger are worth a try.
This restaurant is located at Jl. Sunset Road Barat 1689, but you also can enter this restaurant through their back door at Jalan Bali Deli.
If you come with car, you must come through front door since the parking area is bigger than the one at the back door.
Only need approx. 10 minute by car or approx. 30 minute by walk to reach this restaurant from Villa Desuma and Villa Oost Indies.
You can come here for lunch or dinner. They open from 10 am until 10.30 pm, but take the last order at 10 pm.
If you want to have romantic dinner, took a table at outdoor. The outdoor seating is decorated by colorful and beautiful lantern.
Jl. Sunset Road Barat 1689
"The best pork ribs in Bali" it's not only their slogan, they prove it with the quality of their food.
The pork ribs are delicious and tender, the portion is big and we can choose rice or french fries with our ribs. No wonder it is their signature dish.
Though they are famous with their pork ribs, the other dish like fried rice and bacon cheeseburger are worth a try.
It’s good choice for lunch and dinner since they open from 11 am until at 11.30pm. But take note that the last order is at 10pm, so make sure you come before 10pm.
They have outdoor seating on the back of their restaurant. This space is so beautiful with colorful chair and lantern. Good place for date at night :)
If you stay at Jalan Bali Deli, you can enter through their back door.
Room & Vespa 3 is across the back door of Wahaha. The street is not that wide, less than 1 minute to cross the road.
cr : picture is belong to Wahaha
Happy Kartini Day!! Indonesian celebrate Kartini's birthday every year to appreciate her contribution for Indonesian women's rights. Find a brief biographic of Indonesian national heroine on a post below.
Kartini : "Out of Dark Comes Light"
Raden Ajeng Kartini was a prominent Javanese and an Indonesian national heroine. Kartini was a pioneer in the area of women's rights for Indonesians.
She was born into an aristocratic Javanese family with a strong intellectual tradition, so they allowed her to attend school until she was 12 years old. On that time it's not common for woman to attend school.
After she turned 12 she was 'secluded' at home, a common practice among Javanese nobility, to prepare young girls for their marriage. During her seclusion, Kartini continued to educate herself on her own.
Books, newspapers and European magazines fed Kartini's interest in European feminist thinking, and fostered the desire to improve the conditions of indigenous Indonesian women, who at that time had a very low social status.
Kartini's concerns were not only in the area of the emancipation of women, but also other problems of her society. Kartini saw that the struggle for women to obtain their freedom, autonomy and legal equality was just part of a wider movement.
Her husband understood Kartini's aims and allowed her to establish a school for women in the east porch of the Rembang Regency Office complex.
After Kartini died on 17 September 1904, Mr J. H. Abendanon, the Minister for Culture, Religion and Industry in the East Indies, collected and published the letters that Kartini had sent to her friends in Europe. Because she could speak Dutch, she acquired several Dutch pen friends.
The book was titled Door Duisternis tot Licht (Out of Dark Comes Light) and was published in 1911.
The publication of R.A. Kartini's letters, written by a native Javanese woman, attracted great interest in the Netherlands and Kartini's ideas began to change the way the Dutch viewed native women in Java. Her ideas also provided inspiration for prominent figures in the fight for Independence.
To appreciate her contribution for Indonesian women's rights, Indonesia first president, Sukarno, declared 21 April (Kartini's birth date) as Kartini Day and we (Indonesian) celebrate it every year.
Happy Kartini Day for all of Indonesian woman!

Lovina Beach (or often simply Lovina) is a coastal area on the northwestern side of the island of Bali, Indonesia. The coastal strip stretches from 5 km west of the city of Singaraja to 15 km west. Singaraja is the seat of Buleleng Regency. The Lovina area contains the small villages (from east to west) of Pemaron, Tukad Mungga, Anturan, Banyualit, Kalibukbuk, Kaliasem and Temukus. It is becoming more popular with tourists but remains far quieter than the tourist hotspots of the island's south side.
The area takes its name from a home owned by Pandji Tisna (1908-1978), a Regent of Buleleng and pioneer of tourism to Bali in the early 1950s.
We are very delighted to be part of your wonderful holiday in Bali, Mrs. Grace Young and party. We do hope we can give our best service for your next holiday in Bali. Villa Oost Indies team will miss you.
Pasar Seni Sukawati is a market that sells Balinese ethnic souvenirs and located in the Gianyar district not far from Ubud. an hour driving from Kuta or 1.5 hours from Ngurah Rai International airport. The artworks in Sukawati are very unique and interesting, and the price is not so expensive such as: beaded sandals, shorts, bags, paintings, wood sculpture, bed covers, household appliances up trinkets and jewelry.
For those who have the expertise to bargain, here do not be afraid to bargain, the seller will not be mad if we bargain with lower price. When you feel less satisfied with the price, do not be afraid to leave the seller. As long as prices are still generating profits for the seller, you will be called back. The best-selling items are usually sandals, clothing, and goods Balinese art.
Thank you to Mr. Richard and Mrs. Pamela Holm for your wonderful comment. We do hope we can serve you again in your next Bali Vacation. You'll be missed!
