Our Story
Feeding off Baliโs inspiring energy, Own Villa was conceived in 2010 as a passion project, designed to merge an open-plan living concept, conscious architecture, and the vibrant culture of the island. The space consists of: six independent bedroom structures; a large natural curved swimming pool; a lush tropical garden; and a communal lounge-dining area. Own Villaโs eco-integrity and sculptural qualities have attracted many individuals passionate about responsible architecture, design, and conscious living, whilst retaining a slow pace and comforting sense of home.
The construction aims to conserve the Indonesian culture, using ancient techniques inspired by the tribal architecture of North Sumatra. Fabricated from recycled wood and alang-alang thatched roofs, the structures are earthquake and rain-proof, yet almost entirely void of screws or nails.
โI love when our guests grasp the atmosphere of the place: enjoying Own Villa with every sense, and experiencing balance in this space we share with natureโ, Own Villa founder says.
Created with the care and passion of a domestic living concept, the simple barefoot elegance of Own Villa is found in every detail, providing the perfect place to experience an inspiring Balinese escape.
