The Trees of Handara
Long before Handara became a golf course, these highlands were already home to native forests, cool mountain air, and towering trees. When the course was created over 50 years ago, the vision wasn’t to replace the landscape, but to work with it—preserving mature trees, embracing the natural terrain, and planting even more for future generations.
Today, you’ll find over 1,000 mature trees throughout the property, some older than the resort itself. They cool the air, protect the soil, shelter wildlife, and create the quiet beauty that makes Handara unlike anywhere else in Bali.
We’ve never really thought of ourselves as owning this land—more like looking after it for a while. That belief has guided us for more than five decades.
It’s also why we created Adopt a Tree. So far, guests have planted and adopted more than 500 trees, leaving behind something that continues to grow long after their visit.
