Tucked away in the heart of Ubud, Aria Villas offers more than just a beautiful place to stay. It’s an opportunity to experience Bali the way it’s meant to be experienced - slowly, intentionally, and with a deeper appreciation for its culture.

As you wander through the streets surrounding the villa, you’ll notice small woven baskets filled with flowers, rice, and incense resting outside homes, shops, and temples. These are called “Canang Sari”.

Each offering is a simple expression of gratitude. The flowers represent devotion, the rice symbolizes sustenance, and the incense carries prayers heavenward. Placed each morning, they serve as a reminder to give thanks, seek balance, and honour the connection between people, nature, and the divine. 🍂

Twice a week, just steps from our villa, the temple comes alive with the rhythmic chants of the Kecak Dance. The performers aren’t just artists, they’re our neighbours.
They’re the familiar faces you’ll pass in the rice fields, greet at the local warung, or see around the village, sharing a tradition that has been part of Balinese life for generations.

Most people know the Kecak Dance for its hypnotic chants and dramatic fire-lit performances. But few know the story behind it. Rooted in an ancient Balinese ritual and later shaped through a creative collaboration with artist Walter Spies, it reflects Bali’s unique ability to honour tradition while embracing creative exchange.

It’s these kinds of local experiences that offer a deeper connection to the island, beyond the guidebooks and busy attractions. If you’re curious to experience Bali through a local lens, we’d be delighted to point you in the right direction. 🙏🏼 . .
