Our last cat who decided to make Alam Kita her home, BOWIE 🐱💚 (yes, named after David Bowie because of her two different coloured eyes!) is pregnant… and apparently she has developed a love for our secret water. 😄💧

I already promised many of our guests that I would keep them updated when the kittens are born… but until now, we’re still waiting! 🐾🤰

Come on Bowie, we’re all curious! 😂💕

Confession.

The other morning I woke up and thought… why am I actually keeping Alam Kita to myself?
You all know it as this dreamy place where people come to experience retreats. Over the years so many beautiful groups and individual souls have landed here, and I’m genuinely grateful for every single one of them. Truly.
But somewhere between my coffee and the sound of the ocean, I had this thought: what if other retreat hosts could just show up here and shine?

Because the truth is… the foundation is already here. The jungle is doing her mystical thing. The ocean sparkles like it understands branding. The energy of this place is strong and steady. The staff run everything with heart. And then there’s me — slightly wild former TV producer — who knows exactly how to run a production so you don’t have to think about logistics, laundry, airport pickups or where the extra yoga mats disappeared to.

Imagine arriving with your group and not carrying the weight of “how is this all going to work?”
Imagine being able to focus fully on your people, your teachings, your magic — while everything around you quietly supports it.
That sounds like a pretty good deal to me, right?

I often meet special people. And sometimes, I meet someone who is just a little more special than most.

Like this beautiful family, who has been staying with us for over three weeks now. Even before starting their eight-month journey through Indonesia, they decided to donate a substantial amount to a charitable project. Not because they had to, but because giving matters to them. Not only taking, but also contributing.

We shared many meaningful conversations. About protecting nature. About the emancipation of women in Indonesia. About the ongoing and growing problem of plastic and waste. Very quickly, we agreed that real change starts with education. With children.

When they learned that we are already running educational projects at local primary schools in Karimunjawa, they chose to place their trust in Alam Kita and support this work. A shared vision, an open heart.

Coral adoption will certainly be part of this journey. Because caring for the future starts today. And sometimes, it starts with one family who decides to do things differently.
