New regulations come into effect in NTB (Lombok and Sumbawa) on Monday, 14 September.
The Covid-19 Prevention Protocol Regulations are in accordance with Presidential Instruction (INPRES) No 6 of 2020 on the Prevention and Control of Corona Virus.
Each province in Indonesia is allowed to impose their own fines and regulations, according to their area. In Lombok and Sumbawa, the rules are outlined in NTB Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 7/2020, which focuses on “4M”:
1. Wear a face mask that covers the mouth and nose to the chin when outside the home / in all public places
2. Wash hands regularly with soap and running water, or clean with hand sanitiser
3. Avoid crowds and crowded places
4. Restrict physical interaction (physical distancing between others)
Over the past few weeks, authorities have been socialising the new regulations to the community by stopping those not wearing a mask in public and giving them sanctions in the form of push ups, as well as distributing masks to those not wearing them.
After 14 September, on the spot fines of up to Rp 500,000 will be imposed.
😷 The fines for not wearing a mask in public are:
🔹 Individuals: minimum fine of Rp 100,000 (or if the offender is unable to pay, sanctions in the form of social work such as cleaning roads or public toilets, picking up garbage, etc.)
🔹 ASN (Civil Servants / Police / Government employees): Rp 200,000
🔹 Activity and event organisers / those in charge of any public activity: Rp 250,000 (and may also be subject to sanctions in the form of forced cessation or discontinuation of activities).
🔹 Every owner / administrator / manager and / or person in charge of a place or public facility / workplace / place of business / place of worship: Rp 400,000 (and may be subject to temporary closure and / or permanent closure of the place of activity).
➡️ Specific rules will apply for businesses and public places such as hotels, restaurants, cafés, offices, etc but apparently these are still being finalised (we have been asking for them for the past month).
Based on regulations already introduced by the West Lombok government, these will include:
Temperature checks on entry, the provision of handwashing stations with soap and running water, provision of hand sanitiser, all staff wearing masks, refusal of entry for people not wearing masks, physical distancing space between tables and chairs, the ratio of tables and chairs under 70% of room capacity, safe boundaries between cashier / receptionist and guests, frequent sanitisation of equipment and amenities, and more.
