A reef, a few children, and a quiet revolution beneath the sea ๐
Gili Air has always been more than a postcard paradise.
It is a living ecosystem โ where sea, soil, and soul are deeply connected. ๐ฟ
Beneath these waters, the BioRock coral restoration project โ in partnership with โ continued its work this year, gently bringing sections of the reef back to life.
Coral fragments were replanted onto metal structures powered by low-voltage currents, helping them grow stronger and more resilient, even in warming seas.
But what made this year truly special was not only the technology โ
it was the children. ๐ค
Local kids stepped into the water, held coral in their hands, and placed it onto the reef.
They learned how coral breathes.
How it feeds.
How fragile โ and alive โ this underwater world really is. ๐ชธ
They didnโt just learn about the ocean โ
they became part of its future.
Every coral planted.
Every small hand in the water.
This is what regeneration looks like โ
slow, hopeful, and quietly powerful. โจ
