“Everywhere I turned, I was asked if I’d seen the hornbills, the ultimate picture of love and loyalty in flight. Always in pairs, they soared through and above the trees near the Dodo Bar, the restaurant, the Boathouse—pockets of the island I’d slowly made my own as I settled into my research for the Tulisan Nusantara residency.”

The calm before the celebrations began… The whole island currently belongs to a 60th birthday gathering which has been months in the making. We’re delighted to be hosting Charles and his friends and family for the celebrations. The agenda includes the likes of afternoons of friendly tournaments, guided jungle treks, a saxophone by the pool, long dinners on the jetty and cocktails flowing at Dodo Bar 🍹
