Santi Garden Bungalow No.1 has been fully renovated. It now has a glass front door, new walls and a fully refurbished and vernished wooden floor. Since last week it has a new kingsize bed and it will be equipped with new furniture, hot water and airconditioning.

„Dari Sabang sampai Merauke …“. Many foreign travellers do not really understand what's so special about „Kilometer 0“ on Pulau Weh. Of course the view across the ocean is beautiful, especially at sunset when the flying floxes come out.

But you have to keep in mind: The Kilometer 0 Monument (Sabang) is „the end of Indonesia“ (northwest), and from here the other end of Indonesia (southeast) at the border of Papua New Guinea (Merauke) is 5344 km away. This is equal to the distance from Iceland to Egypt or from Paris to Dubai. If you wanted to drive the whole way by car it's more than 8000 km or, let's say, like driving from London to India. So you can imagine for many people from all over Indonesia it's something very special to finally reach the end of the road.

However, from Santi Garden Bungalows „Kilometer 0“ is only 8 km away, and it's an easy 15 minutes ride by motorbike to get there. 😀

"Discover the natural beauty of Pulau Weh!" Apart from diving and snorkeling there is a lot you can do on the island. Several good sandy beaches can be found on Pulau Weh, and of course the "Kilometer Zero Monument of Indonesia".
These are only some of the natural sights we (Susanti & Martin) recommend to visit on Pulau Weh:
(a) Gua sarang (swallow cave), (b) Waterfall (Pria Laot), (c) Volcano (between Jaboi and Paya Keuneukai) & (d) Japanese bunker (near Anoi Hitam).

"Would you like to see dolphins?" ... but you need to get up early in the morning. 😀
If you go on a dolphin tour leaving at 6:30 in the morning, the chances to see dolphins around Pulau Weh are 99%. Last time we (Susanti & Martin) went out on a dolphin tour with Papi, we saw more than 50 dolphins. They sometimes jump out above the water or come very close to your boat. It's a great experience to see these beautiful mammals in action!

What's the idea of "Santi Garden Bungalows"? At Santi Garden we still have many big trees, and - as we and most travelers love the natural beauty of Iboih Beach Area - we do not want to cut any trees. All our bungalows were built into the gaps between the trees, and in the centre we left a 500 square meter area where last year we started planting a tropical garden with 10 coconut trees and, so far, more than 200 new plants such as fern, keladi, monstera, wild flowers and many others. For the new footpaths between the bungalows we set up natural stone on either side. We want to keep this garden as a natural habitat for many species of birds, squirrels, butterflies and even monkeys. When you come to Santi Garden next time you are invited to bring your favourite plants/flowers with you, so that we can plant them together. 😀
