Sunny greetings from the Alamanda Village family
Dear family and dear friends of Alamanda Village,
Greetings from Yogyakarta!
The busy school-holiday season is almost over, and what a wonderful, cheerful few months it has been at our little family resort.
There have been smiling children, relaxed parents, lovely day trips and very importantly as little suitcase packing as possible. Because let’s be honest: enjoying a three-week holiday is wonderful, but spending three weeks practising the sport of packing suitcases… slightly less so. 😉
One familiar home base, with all of Java within easy reach
This summer, many of our returning guests discovered what we have been saying for years: make Yogyakarta your home base for three weeks.
There is so much to see, do and experience, while every evening you get to come “home” to the same familiar surroundings.
The children soon know exactly where to find the pools and their own cottage, our cook quickly learns their favourites, and you can relax over dinner.
If the conversation at the table lasts a little too long for the children, they can simply disappear back to “their own cottage” for a while.
Everyone is happy and there is no need to rush dessert. 😊
No daily hassle of settling in again, searching for somewhere to eat, working out what there is to do nearby, packing, travelling, unpacking and then packing all over again.
That sounds suspiciously like work and that is exactly what a holiday is not meant to be!
You enjoy yourselves, we take care of the rest
At Alamanda Village, we start thinking along with you even before your journey begins.
By email or WhatsApp, we can dream up your ideal family holiday together.
Domestic travel plans, visas, train tickets or flights: we are happy to help organise it all.
All you need to do at home is make your way to the airport, arrive in Indonesia and think: ah, how lovely… everything has already been arranged.
During your stay, we talk each day about what you might like to do the following day.
It could be something the children have wished for, an outing from your own list or a surprising idea from us: we always look for something the whole family will enjoy.
That way, young and old alike have a wonderful day without anyone having to write an itinerary that evening.
Familiar faces, new memories
This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming five families whose parents or even grandparents had stayed with us before.
Claudia and Patrick returned with their children, aged 8 and 12, for the fourth year in a row and once again rented our family Java Joglo for two to three weeks.
Grandma Henny came with her children, grandchildren and their partners; together they filled four units.
At that point, we no longer call it a booking it is more like a cheerful village extension! Yvonne and Jan enjoyed three weeks with their children and grandchildren in two family units and one double unit.
Nathalie and Nico are also back with us, this time with their boys, aged 6 and 8.
They first stayed with us in 2014 and promised to return once the children were ready to travel.
Promise kept! The boys have already enjoyed a wonderful independent day in the village, and we have a feeling they will soon become our best ambassadors.
Probably in exchange for pancakes. 😉
Several other families stayed with us for a week or ten days after having visited for a shorter stay before.
Because they stayed longer this time, we could show them so much more of Java: its culture, nature, village life and the creativity that seems to come alive here at every age.
Why we now call ourselves a “Village”
We now call ourselves Alamanda Village because, on 5,000 square metres surrounded by rice fields, we have created a little paradise where everyone immediately feels at home.
We have four two-room family units and three units for two or three guests, two large saltwater swimming pools, a welcoming restaurant exclusively for our guests, a separate breakfast restaurant, a teahouse and a beautiful flower garden around the units.
The moment you turn off the road, you enter another world a world of peace, colour, personal attention and, above all, the freedom of not having to arrange a thing yourself.
“Everything was perfect, and we did not have to arrange a thing ourselves.” We often see that sentence in reviews, notes and emails. To us, it is the loveliest compliment we could receive.
Will we see your family again soon?
Are you already longing for Java, Yogyakarta and that familiar feeling of “coming home” to us?
Send us an email or WhatsApp message.
We would love to help you plan a holiday that is just right for your family.
Just don’t wait too long: Alamanda Village is intentionally small-scale, and each week we can pamper only 18 to 24 guests. When we are full, we really are full unless someone is willing to sleep in the teahouse, which even we would not recommend. 😉
We are already looking forward to welcoming you and your family back!
Warm and sunny wishes from Yogyakarta,
The Alamanda Village family 😊
