Sunny greetings from the Alamanda Village family
Dear family and dear friends of Alamanda Village,
Greetings from Yogyakarta!
The busy school-holiday season is almost over, and what a wonderful, cheerful few months it has been at our little family resort.
There have been smiling children, relaxed parents, lovely day trips and very importantly as little suitcase packing as possible. Because let’s be honest: enjoying a three-week holiday is wonderful, but spending three weeks practising the sport of packing suitcases… slightly less so. 😉
One familiar home base, with all of Java within easy reach
This summer, many of our returning guests discovered what we have been saying for years: make Yogyakarta your home base for three weeks.
There is so much to see, do and experience, while every evening you get to come “home” to the same familiar surroundings.

The children soon know exactly where to find the pools and their own cottage, our cook quickly learns their favourites, and you can relax over dinner.
If the conversation at the table lasts a little too long for the children, they can simply disappear back to “their own cottage” for a while.
Everyone is happy and there is no need to rush dessert. 😊

No daily hassle of settling in again, searching for somewhere to eat, working out what there is to do nearby, packing, travelling, unpacking and then packing all over again.
That sounds suspiciously like work and that is exactly what a holiday is not meant to be!

You enjoy yourselves, we take care of the rest

At Alamanda Village, we start thinking along with you even before your journey begins.
By email or WhatsApp, we can dream up your ideal family holiday together.
Domestic travel plans, visas, train tickets or flights: we are happy to help organise it all.
All you need to do at home is make your way to the airport, arrive in Indonesia and think: ah, how lovely… everything has already been arranged.

During your stay, we talk each day about what you might like to do the following day.
It could be something the children have wished for, an outing from your own list or a surprising idea from us: we always look for something the whole family will enjoy.
That way, young and old alike have a wonderful day without anyone having to write an itinerary that evening.
Familiar faces, new memories

This summer, we had the pleasure of welcoming five families whose parents or even grandparents had stayed with us before.
Claudia and Patrick returned with their children, aged 8 and 12, for the fourth year in a row and once again rented our family Java Joglo for two to three weeks.
Grandma Henny came with her children, grandchildren and their partners; together they filled four units.
At that point, we no longer call it a booking it is more like a cheerful village extension! Yvonne and Jan enjoyed three weeks with their children and grandchildren in two family units and one double unit.

Nathalie and Nico are also back with us, this time with their boys, aged 6 and 8.
They first stayed with us in 2014 and promised to return once the children were ready to travel.
Promise kept! The boys have already enjoyed a wonderful independent day in the village, and we have a feeling they will soon become our best ambassadors.
Probably in exchange for pancakes. 😉

Several other families stayed with us for a week or ten days after having visited for a shorter stay before.
Because they stayed longer this time, we could show them so much more of Java: its culture, nature, village life and the creativity that seems to come alive here at every age.

Why we now call ourselves a “Village”
We now call ourselves Alamanda Village because, on 5,000 square metres surrounded by rice fields, we have created a little paradise where everyone immediately feels at home.
We have four two-room family units and three units for two or three guests, two large saltwater swimming pools, a welcoming restaurant exclusively for our guests, a separate breakfast restaurant, a teahouse and a beautiful flower garden around the units.
The moment you turn off the road, you enter another world a world of peace, colour, personal attention and, above all, the freedom of not having to arrange a thing yourself.

“Everything was perfect, and we did not have to arrange a thing ourselves.” We often see that sentence in reviews, notes and emails. To us, it is the loveliest compliment we could receive.

Will we see your family again soon?

Are you already longing for Java, Yogyakarta and that familiar feeling of “coming home” to us?
Send us an email or WhatsApp message.
We would love to help you plan a holiday that is just right for your family.
Just don’t wait too long: Alamanda Village is intentionally small-scale, and each week we can pamper only 18 to 24 guests. When we are full, we really are full unless someone is willing to sleep in the teahouse, which even we would not recommend. 😉

We are already looking forward to welcoming you and your family back!
Warm and sunny wishes from Yogyakarta,
The Alamanda Village family 😊

Wat ooit werknemers waren, voelt nu als familie;
Nieuw is onze authentieke, ruim 80 jaar oude Limasan.

From a country house to our own little village
That is why we are changing our name from “Villa’s” to “VILLAGE” or, as they say here, “Desa.”
What started in 2012 as a hobby renting out a few rooms in our beautiful country house has slowly grown into something much bigger.
In 2005, we had our home built on the edge of Yogyakarta,
in a unique spot among the rice fields.
Thanks to our good connections, we were able to buy a very special piece of land here and build a warm home of more than 300 m²:
a place where we welcome friends, enjoy life together, and let others experience just how beautiful this little part of Jogjakarta is.
From welcoming guests at our living-room table to creating a little village among the rice fields: 14 years later, we have grown into Alamanda VILLAGE, a place where many friends return year after year.
For many of them, it now feels like a second home and that may be the greatest compliment we could ever receive.
We are proud of so many returning guests,
of all the warmth and happy moments, and of our team,
who have grown with us over all these years.
What once started as employees now feels like family;
some have even become co-owners of the Alamanda village.
Please feel free to take a look at our website and share in our little piece of happiness in Jogjakarta.
https://alamandayogyakarta.com/
We are not a hotel, and we are not a homestay either.
Over the years, we have grown into a small village,
with authentic private Javanese houses, our own restaurant where we love to spoil our friends with good food,
our own fleet of five luxury minibuses, a wonderful team of top guides, excellent massage ladies, a sports masseur, our own laundry and washing service for guests, and even a little “help and advice” shop where there is always someone ready to help whether you need sewing thread, medicine, money exchange, or anything in between. And of course, we also have cosy tea houses where we love to welcome friends.
Spoiling those friends and helping them fall a little bit in love with beautiful Jogjakarta just as we did is what we enjoy most.
Across more than 5,000 square metres of rice fields stand authentic Javanese houses,
all with comfort, space, and freedom.
You don’t feel as if you are stepping into a hotel room;
you feel as if you are coming home.
You open the door and find yourself right in the middle of the rice fields.
Even our two unique saltwater swimming pools are set among the rice fields. While swimming, you can almost touch the rice plants — it hardly gets more romantic than that.
New to us is our authentic Limasan, more than 80 years old.
You won’t find it on our website or anywhere online.
The two beautiful rooms in this 200 m² Limasan are truly the very best of Jogjakarta, especially for our loyal guests who have been coming here for years something we are incredibly proud of.
As true hobbyists, we want to make it more beautiful,
better, and more surprising every year.
Together with our team of 14 men and women, we continue building our little village.
Last year, for example, we adapted our authentic Javanese Joglo so that guests who find walking a little more difficult can still enjoy plenty of space, comfort, and convenience.
Because spoiling our friends is our hobby.
And yes, most of you here on Facebook are our friends.
That is why we are happy to share this little secret with you.
