For centuries in Tangerang, Peranakan families lived closely with local communities. Through cultural exchange, intermarriage, and the spread of Muslim, some eventually embraced Muslim.

A symbol of this cultural harmony can still be seen at Masjid Kali Pasir, one of the oldest mosques located near the historic Chinatown area.

Rooted in the land of Sunda, the angklung was born from bamboo, nature, and gratitude.
While modern angklung is often played on stage, for the Baduy people it carries deep spiritual meaning & only played at sacred moments, such as during harvest season.

Through Teh Ayu’s story, we’re reminded that tradition isn’t something to perform, but something to honor.
