Dont you know that we have oldest native species lives on our island?

Scientists first spotted an unknown type of tarsier on Togean Islands. There are now 12 species of Tarsier found in surrounding islands.

While newly described to science as Tarsius niemitzi, it has long been known to locals by the names bunsing, tangkasi and podi.

They are quite a singer; Vocalization analysis based on recordings show that its duet is structurally simple. Togean tarsiers are unique among known tarsier acoustic forms in that they respond in playback experiments to all other tarsier duet calls by duetting themselves.

We will record you their duet perfomance so you can hear how beautiful and loud they can be.

Yep! We are proudly say we're off grid - living remotely with no government access of electricity, water and phone connection.

But we are eating well and healthy - with sun powered referigator, eating organic chicken we got from the village, and vegetable from our garden.

Also, did you know that even in summer we have a lot of rainwater? In the village where they have swell, they sometime run out during dry season - which makes us think: why build pipes from village when we can just collect and filter our water? Oh yes, we drink water filtered from rain! If you are into sustainability or want to learn how to live sustainably, come visit us and we can all learn together!

Have you heard about Sea Gypsies? Historically, they are living a nomad life floating in the sea. Now, they created a civilization built wooden houses on the water. They are called Bajau tribe and live in Tomini sea in Sulawesi.

Our lodge is 10 mins away from Siatu - Bajau village. We are learning a lot from them especially fishing technique. Many of them depend their live on fishing but a few of them try to do illegal logging for a quick money.

We want to help to sustain their culture by promoting ecoutourism in the region. Lets help Bajau maintain their culture and tradition!

History of Togo Eang

Togo Eang started off in 2017 by a family of local Bugeesian and Bonenesian family. Sukmawati's mother originally from Ampana. Her ancestor was one the fighter during colonisation area of Kingdom Tojo Una-una*. Together, Sukma, and her German husband bought an island for their retirement. Their daughter then decided to join and build more sleeper huts to rent.

When we first found the island, it was still wild and foresty. There was nothing build, no jetty for boats, no phone/internet connection, no water and no electricity. It was the real off grid experience! We first build a temporary hut, a jetty at the back of island, we got an 9m wooden boat with 25hp Yamaha engine. Then we got satellite internet, we finished the biggest building on the island which will be the lounge/ restaurant area plus common bathroom. We also now have a more than 1500 watt solar power system and a diesel generator machine. We can now host a 2 people guest comfortably!
