Hello my friends! Last year we, Alexis and Anne from the Netherlands, stayed three months in this private homestay of Nyoman and enjoyed it so much we’d like to recommend it to everyone who is planning on visiting Ubud, Bali. Especially if you’re planning on staying a bit longer! Nyoman and his daughter Elen, his son Kadek and other family are very sweet people. If you are looking for an affordable, homely, safe stay in a nice quiet part of Penestanan, this is the place.
Here is a complete description of what you can expect: A wonderful accommodation with a very nice family in a quiet and easygoing part of Penestanan, which is the most popular expat area, a bit away from the noise and pollution of the center but close to many great restaurants, café Vespa, a yoga school etc. For 4 - 6 million IDR per month, depending on room and season, you have: ● A comfortable and clean bedroom with beautiful wood carving panels and a nice veranda, in a private building. ● A big bed with excellent mattress. We slept very well there. ● Great in-room climate with good fans. No humidity or fungus. Very important in Ubud. ● Beautiful private bathroom with warm & cold water. ● Large swimming pool overlooking jungle, overseen by Buddha, within the family compound, just 100 m walking. ● Dry shelter for scooter, bike or car. ● Good wi-fi 24/7. ● Nyoman and his family are very kind and genuinely friendly people who will do everything to make you comfortable. ● Excellent breakfast with fruit, toast, egg, pancakes or Balinese style food, coffee and tea can be added for 1.500.000 Rp a month. We stayed a bit longer and bargained. I can recommend it. ● Safety of family environment, a taste of Balinese culture and ceremonies, and quite a few free, original Balinese meals. Nyoman and his daughter Elen are great cooks and will surprise you. ● Nyoman can also get you a cheap & good scooter, provide taxi transport for a decent price, or arrange tours, but he is never pushy.
