Every joint at Bambu Indah is wrapped by hand.

Bamboo culms are bound together at the ridge, each one cut and fitted to the exact angle of the roof. No two connections are identical.

The material is grown locally. The structure is shaped through craft, piece by piece.

Yoga on the island, with the Ayung flowing on both sides.

Water moving, forest rising around you, the sound of the river carrying through the entire practice. The setting shapes the rhythm as much as the flow itself.

Classes are also held at the riverside shala, just steps away.

Weekly sessions, open to guests. See for the schedule.

Copper House sits deep in the landscape, above the Ayung River.

Designed by , the structure follows a bamboo grid shell, forming a continuous curved roof that opens to the surroundings while enclosing the space within. The house was built around an existing tree, which remains at its center.

Copper shingles wrap the roof, weathering over time. Inside, the bathtub becomes a focal point, positioned toward the view and the canopy beyond.

“I thought it would be lovely to be standing in front of the tree and see a mirror over the sink and that incredible view at the same time.” – Elora Hardy.

A mud bath in the forest.

At the Crystal Pool Thermal Area, mineral-rich mud is applied to the skin, drawing out impurities while minerals absorb back in. It dries in the open air, surrounded by trees, before being washed away.

Next to it, a copper and bamboo shower set above a stone basin. Water from underground springs runs over the body, cooling the skin and resetting the senses.

A sequence shaped by earth and body.

Kingfisher Nest has no right angles.

Designed by Elora Hardy and built from locally grown bamboo and lime mud, the structure follows a continuous curve, shaped to enclose rather than divide. The copper roof sits like a protective shell, weathering over time and catching light through the canopy.

A teardrop door marks the entrance. Inside, a cathedral ceiling opens upward, drawing in air and daylight. Bamboo walls, a copper rain shower, and a queen bed set in soft textiles define the space without closing it off.

Every element follows the same logic: form shaped by material, not imposed geometry.

A day by the Ayung River.

Spring-fed pools, forest all around, and time to move between water, shade, and table at River Warung. Lunch is served throughout the day, with traditional Indonesian dishes and our daily chef’s soup. Towels are provided.

Across the river, the Crystal Pool Thermal Area extends the experience. Sauna, ice bath, mud bath, copper hot tub, and heated spring pools are set into the landscape, connected by stone paths and water.

A day that moves at its own pace.

Breakfast at River Warung starts close to the source.

Freshly baked bread. Honey flowing directly from the comb, sourced from our own beehives. Eggs from our ducks and goat cheese from our herd. Juices pressed daily. Salads, fish, and Indonesian dishes prepared each morning. Two kinds of soup, served throughout the day.

Set above the Ayung, with the river moving below and the day just beginning.

For our hotel guests, breakfast is not just a meal, but an extension of the landscape it comes from.

By the river live two Bali cows, Bambu and Indah, part of the working landscape that surrounds Bambu Indah.

Their manure becomes compost for our gardens, feeding the soil that grows ingredients for the kitchen. From animal to earth to food, the cycle continues across the property.

Cow washing is an experience guests can join. You step into the river with our team, bucket water over their backs, brush away dried mud, and feel the weight and warmth of an animal usually kept at a distance.

It’s hands-on. A little messy. Surprisingly grounding.

Experiences available to book during your stay.

These houses are built almost entirely from bamboo.

Columns branch like trees, transferring load through angled struts rather than rigid beams. Rooflines arc outward in continuous curves, distributing weight through woven lattices that act as both structure and surface.

There are no straight ceilings or boxed rooms. Walls bend. Floors rise into balustrades. Openings are carved into the skin of the building rather than punched through it.

Bamboo works in compression, tension, and weave. Its flexibility allows spans and curves that would be difficult in conventional materials. Structure and ornament become the same thing.

The forms follow a matriarchal design philosophy, favoring curves, continuity, and enclosure over rigid right angles and imposed symmetry. Space is shaped through flow rather than hierarchy.

The structures rise from the ground rather than being placed on it.

On March 28, 2026, Bambu Indah came alive for The Garden Journey, an Earth Hour immersion where nature, gastronomy, culture, and conscious living intertwined.

Guests arrived to house-fermented kombucha and began the evening with a permaculture talk by Justin Robertshaw, world renowned Permaculture Consultant and Educator, exploring sustainable farming principles at Bambu Indah’s organic gardens. A stroll through the farm followed, with garden-inspired tastings that brought the connection from soil to plate to life.

The journey continued at Tembaga, where Michelin-starred plant-based chef Alejandro Cancino presented a refined multi-course dinner, accompanied by live acoustic music from Tritala.

As darkness fell, guests lit candles across the grounds in honor of Earth Hour, creating a serene glow that led into a traditional Balinese shadow puppet performance, storytelling, ritual, and reflection merging into one unforgettable evening.

The Garden Journey was more than a moment; it was an experience of connection to the land, to culture, and to mindful living.

Easter at Bambu Indah starts with the ducks.

Each morning, eggs are collected from our flock. For Easter Sunday, this becomes part of the experience, a day built around food, nature, and time by the river.

Brunch at River Warung brings together ingredients from our gardens and surrounding farms, fresh greens, eggs, and seasonal dishes prepared throughout the day.

Join us for a riverside Easter brunch, with a curated egg hunt woven into the grounds, followed by time to swim, explore, and settle into the day.

Across the river lies the Crystal Pool Thermal Area: a sequence of heat, cold, and water integrated into its surroundings.

Sauna, ice bath, copper hot tub, and the heated spring pool are set among stone, timber, and dense greenery. Moving between temperatures becomes the ritual.

A long earthen wall runs through the grounds, marked with hand imprints pressed into clay and pigment. It forms a carved passage: a quiet reference to early human markings, gestures of presence once left in rock. Long before modern wellness, there was heat, cold, water, and touch.

Here, the practice remains elemental. Step into warmth. Plunge into cold. Sit in water. Repeat.

Wellness at Bambu Indah is shaped by its setting - just across the river.
