Ogoh-Ogoh are giant effigies created and paraded before the Balinese New Year, known as Nyepi. They hold deep philosophical meaning, symbolizing negative forces such as greed, anger, and hatred that exist within human nature.

After being paraded around the village, Ogoh-Ogoh are usually burned as an act of purification and release of negative energy. This ritual represents the destruction of evil traits, allowing people to enter the Saka New Year with a cleansed heart and a more harmonious life.

The Ogoh-Ogoh tradition is also a form of artistic and creative expression for the Balinese community. Every year, different groups compete to create the most unique and meaningful designs.
