We’re excited to announce the return of the Carlow Garden Festival, taking place from Saturday, July 26th to Sunday, August 3rd, 2025. Set against the backdrop of County Carlow’s stunning gardens and historic homes, this nine-day festival is a celebration of horticulture, creativity, sustainability and natural beauty 🌷🌱

Organised by the Carlow Garden Trail, the festival is now in its 23rd year and has earned its place as one of Ireland’s premier gardening events. It brings together almost 20 of the most respected names in Irish and UK gardening, offering a vibrant programme of expert talks, garden visits, guided tours, hands-on workshops and culinary experiences. A dynamic line-up of expert talks and demonstrations will be led by some of the most influential voices in gardening, including Adam Frost of BBC Gardeners World and Peter O’Mahony, Irish rugby international and passionate gardener.

The full festival schedule and ticket information are available now at www.carlowgardentrail.com. Visitors are encouraged to explore accommodation packages, local cafés, and other attractions across the county to make the most of their visit.

Sustainability takes centre stage in 2025, with the introduction of a dedicated shuttle bus service connecting all garden venues from five key locations in Carlow Town, including the Seven Oaks Hotel, Talbot Hotel, Woodford Dolmen Hotel and Carlow’s bus and train stations. This new service encourages visitors to leave the car behind and travel in a more environmentally friendly way, supporting the festival’s mission to reduce its carbon footprint while also making it easier to attend multiple events throughout the county.

With gardens in full bloom, the festival is the perfect moment to pause, take inspiration from seasoned professionals, and plan ahead for the months to come. Whether you're a complete beginner or a lifelong enthusiast, the festival offers a space to explore new ideas, gain practical advice, and reconnect with nature.

If you have any questions that aren’t covered in the FAQ section on the Carlow Garden Trail website, or if you experience any difficulties reserving tickets online, please email [email protected] or call 059 913 0411.

Open Day 2018 at The Herb Gardens at Kilgraney House.

Thursday 2nd August 2018 at 3.00pm.

‘Grow a longer, healthier, happier life’ with Fiann Ó Nualláin.

We’re delighted to welcome Fiann O’ Nualáin, better known as The Holistic Gardener, as our guest speaker for our open day at The Herb Gardens at Kilgraney House.

Fiann is an award-winning garden designer and a columnist with contributions to newspapers, magazines and his own web site. He’s also a successful author with three books, one on first aid from the garden, one on beauty treatments from the garden and his latest book is a collection of life strategies and mindful techniques to better cope with the vicissitudes of life and maintain mental wellness.

Fiann’s talk will explore how the garden heals on so many levels and you’ll discover how best to maximise the many benefits of gardening for your own health and happiness. He’ll highlight the wonderful transformations that happen as you toil with the soil, from the sounds of nature impacting on your emotions, to the benefits of daylight in helping to fight off ailments and psychological issues.

Herbs feature a lot in the gardens at Kilgraney, though many have suffered with the prolonged drought conditions this season, and Fiann will discuss the benefits of natural aromatherapy and how best to enjoy the calming, corrective and curative benefits of herbal harvests from your garden.

Admission is €10.00. Pre-booking advisable, tickets from www.carlowgardentrail.com.

Some tickets for sale on the day subject to availability.
