It’s a flying visit – in classic Swiss style.

Swiss business magnate and historic aircraft enthusiast Hugo Mathys turned heads along the south coast this week after flying in for a private holiday in his fleet of gleaming Second World War era aircraft.

History in the skies over East Cork today! ✨

We were SO excited to see our special guests from Switzerland take to the air in their own magnificent 5-plane fleet! What a spectacular flyover from Cork Airport to Waterford Airport and back, with an amazing view right over Garryvoe Beach and Ballycotton village.

The absolute star of the show? This incredible 83-YEAR-OLD DC-3! 🤩 In its vintage Swissair livery, it was a real throwback to the 1960s when this exact model flew for Aer Lingus and Cambrian Airways from a newly opened Cork Airport.

Our very own Mr. Belton was on board for the flight and said it’s a “memory he will always cherish.” We couldn’t agree more!

Keep your eyes on the skies around 12 noon today!

We're so excited for our special guests from Switzerland, who are taking to the skies in their own planes for a magnificent flyover!

A fleet of five aircraft will be flying from to and back again, passing right over Garryvoe and Ballycotton on both journeys.

Mr. B and Michael O'Brien are on board, so let's give them all a huge East Cork welcome and a wave! 👋
