JOB NOTICE
Seeking to recruit a community centre manager for the Breesy Centre.
Job description as follows;
Position Title:
Community Centre Manager
Location:
The Breesy Centre, Cashelard.
Contract Type:
Permanent,
Starting as Part-Time (0.5 FTE – 20 hours per week, flexibility required, including evenings/weekends) with a view to extending this post to FT.
6-month probationary period
Salary
€40,000 per annum pro rata

About The Breesy Centre
The Breesy Centre is a vibrant, community-led facility comprising:
• A multi-purpose community hall
• A hostel facility supporting visiting groups and residential stays
• A fully equipped kitchen
• An outdoor astro-turf sports pitch
The Centre supports a wide range of community, youth, sporting, cultural and voluntary groups and plays an important role in local social and recreational life.
Purpose of the Role
The Community Centre Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, management, and development of The Breesy Centre. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting community users, ensuring financial sustainability, and maintaining high standards of governance, safety, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
• Oversee the day-to-day running of the hall, hostel, kitchen, and astro pitch
• Manage bookings, scheduling, and user agreements
• Ensure facilities are maintained to a high standard
• Coordinate cleaning, maintenance, and contractors
Financial Oversight
• Manage income and expenditure in line with agreed budgets
• Prepare financial reports for the committee/boardCentre:Support fundraising initiatives and grant applications
• Ensure timely invoicing and fee collection
Governance & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation
• Maintain appropriate policies (safeguarding, child protection, data protection, etc.)
• Support the committee in governance responsibilities
• Ensure insurance and regulatory requirements are up to date
Community Engagement & Development
• Build strong relationships with user groups and stakeholders
• Promote the Centre and increase community participation
• Identify opportunities to expand services and income streams
• Support volunteer engagement
Hostel & Facilities Oversight
• Oversee booking and supervision arrangements for hostel stays
• Ensure compliance with safety and accommodation standards
• Coordinate turnaround between group bookings
Person Specification
Essential
• Experience in community development, centre management, or a similar coordination role
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Financial management experience (budgeting, reporting, invoicing)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a committee-led structure
• Good knowledge of health & safety requirements
• IT proficiency (email, booking systems, spreadsheets)
Desirable
• Experience managing community facilities or hostel accommodation
• Fundraising and grant-writing experience
• Experience working with voluntary committees
• Understanding of governance in community/voluntary organisations
