A Superior B & B
This really is a super B & B - our room was comfortable and roomy, booking was easy, it’s quiet, and the hosts are friendly; everything is geared to a comfortable stay. And I can’t remember having a tastier breakfast; it really was excellent. We stayed in two hotels on this trip, in other parts of the country, and The Ring was far superior to both of them. For sure, if we do visit this part of the country in the future, we’ll be back.

Located on the River Shannon, Meelick Weir walkway is a link across the Shannon between Lusmagh in Offaly and Meelick in Galway.
Meelick Weir was originally built in the 1800s as part of the Shannon navigation system, which was once bustling with colour and trade. Work on the €3.2m project began in 2017 and included the restoration of the weir, its 300m walkway, and tilting weir gates. It is over 300m in length and there are stunning views of the River Shannon and surrounding natural countryside on a walk along Meelick Weir.

- is the final destination of of the Rás Tailteann Cycle Race tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday 17th May?

To facilitate this exciting event, the R440 from Syngefield corner to the N52 National Road will temporarily close for approximately 30 minutes between 3pm and 5pm.

Thank you to our front line colleagues in Garda Síochána Laois Offaly as they are looking after this closure.

‘Variable Message Signs’ will provide further updates enroute to alert motorists to the Road Closure.
