Today, the 9th of May, marks the reopening of landing tours for the 2026 season to the iconic Skellig Michael, an important day every year for the Skellig Coast. ๐
As one of Irelandโs most extraordinary experiences, Skellig Michael draws visitors from around the world to our coast each season.
If you are planning a trip to the Skellig Coast this year and hope to step foot on this UNESCO World Heritage Site, make sure to book your tour early. Visitor numbers are strictly limited to just 180 people per day, making spaces highly sought after throughout the season. Landing tours operate throughout the summer season until the end of September.
There is also the option to experience the Skellig Islands from the sea with boat trips around the islands, offering an unforgettable way to explore the coastline, wildlife and dramatic scenery without landing.
All tours are weather dependent, and this year strong winds have delayed the official landing season by a few days, as conditions have not yet allowed safe landings and the guides have not yet arrived on the island. But we canโt wait for the first visitors to step ashore on Skellig Michael for the 2026 season in the next few days.
Tours depart from several locations along the Skellig Coast, with Portmagee being the most popular departure point.
