I think that one of the most underated activities in the countryside is a long walk along local roads or laneways. Its healthy, zero cost and you can happen upon some fabulous scenic features, interestiing old building remains, or meet some friendly locals. There are several such walks in our location where you can find lakes, drumlins or old heritage features such as long-forgotten spring wells with stone surrounds
Always a good idea to have a stick in case you encounter an over-zealous dog!
