That should be helpful in the poly tunnel and raised beds.

I know we are late but still working on poly tunnel so didn’t want to waste anymore of the season. Lettuce and broccoli seeds already sprouting after just a few days.

Nobody knows how long this is going to last so we have bought ourselves a poly tunnel. It will of course it will give us food but the most important thing it will give us is something to do, something to focus on, something to lift our spirits. Even if it’s raining it will get us all working together. Not much to see in the picture but hopefully in the next few days this pile of parcels will look a bit more exciting.

Seems that Thursday is our special day for saying thank you to the people who are going the extra mile.
So I would like to say thank you to Grouse Hall furniture for helping us out with a lovely bed. Also a big thank you to Roisin from Cavan Food Cloud. Lovely cottage pie with root veg mash topping made with some of the food that Roisin delivered. 👏 👏 👏

So six more days to go and it’s all hands to the pump to get another room sorted for someone who needs somewhere to call home. Sounds easy but with a bathroom and kitchen still to be plumbed in and we haven’t even bought anything for the kitchen yet it’s going to be a struggle. This new suite is going to be lovely but I just hope we can furnish it in time. Nearly forgot, we haven’t even got a bed for the poor chap!

So how was your day?
When we are all being told to stay at home sometimes it’s not that easy.
The start of my day. Phone call. This time not from social services. This one had a real person on the other end. He begged me to find room for him. He just needs to get off the streets. Such desperation and fear in his voice. We have a huge house and it would have been no bother to pop up a bed into one of the lounges and he could have washed etc in the downstairs cloakroom but it’s not that simple now. I’m frightened just like everyone is. He would have to quarantine for two weeks. How could he do that on a pop up bed in a lounge? Impossible. There was nothing I could do for him. All I could do is pass the buck. Gave him advice on who to phone. So my day started with me feeling helpless. Not a feeling I’m familiar with. Not a feeling I want.
The rest of my day consisted of keeping to the rules. Plumbing stuff is essential supplies if it’s to keep just one more person off the streets. Thank you PTS Enniskillen for being open on the phone so we could resume work on our garden suite again.
Our new ‘housemate’ Michael who arrived on Monday and is in quarantine helped us with making a start on the shower base. Perhaps one day we will laugh at the measures we are having to go to to do this social 2m distance when your trying to plumb a bathroom but right now it’s too serious.
We are also trying to look after our future so Aidy was working on the new chicken run. One little step closer to ‘the good life’.
Sam is doing her bit of keeping the tea and coffee going and the half price cakes I picked up on my travels went down well.
So how was your day?
