We found this photograph which shows Mr George Allison, former owner of Riverbank House, when it was a Fishing and Shooting Hotel back in the day. Lovely picture with, what we think, are the catches of the day. We love finding these snippets of history of the house. If anyone has anything they could share with us about Riverbank House and its past, we would love to hear from you. Heather and Adam

Treated ourselves to an amazing pizza from Padraigin's Pizza last night - it was honestly the most amazing pizza we've had (and anyone will tell you - we've eaten a lot of pizza!!!). Lovely people and amazing food - definitely a recommendation for our guests in future!

We spent the most amazing couple of hours at Dromkeen Woods yesterday with friends - made so special by Wanderful - the children were absolutely enchanted by the trail, and the photos of them holding fairies, squirrels and foxes are definite framers! Thank you so much for this 'wanderful' experience!!! Innishannon & Bandon Notice Board

Just back from a quick visit to Cashel, another beautiful part of Ireland we should definitely have been to before...we're gradually getting around the place :-). Must recommend the incredible if you are looking for a place to stay in area...and dinner at (thanks to George for the recommendation!). Quick stop to watch the sunset at Youghal before heading home. Lovely, lovely weekend with Adam - mooching around West Cork, visiting Toons Bridge Dairy for gorgeous Sunday picnic supplies,Kealkill, Bantry and Ballydehob before going onto our evening stay at Liss Ard Estate - food to die for and grounds you could walk in for days and days. Windy walk at Toe Head and more walks in Rineen Woods, followed by picnic at Castletownsend and then off to meet Grainne and Jack for the Leap Scarecrow Festival - which was absolutely brilliant - Witches Dance a real highlight :-). Lovely to be the traveller/guest for a change... its so great you don't have to go far here to have an amazing time!!!!

Wild flowers have been amazing this year. Adam’s bees are in their element!

We just had to share the wonderful review we received this week from our kind guest Shirley. It was so nice of Shirley to take the time to write such a detailed review, and we really appreciate the thought and the sentiments - we can't wait to spoil her rotten when she comes back to us later this year! You can see more about us and other reviews on our website www.riverbankhouse.ie.

Shirleys Google Review (posted with permission):

Riverbank House B&B is exceptional. So amazing that within an hour of arrival I rebooked again... YES ITS THAT GOOD! I stayed over the June bank holiday weekend and it was outstanding from start to finish. Received a very warm welcome from Heather to their beautiful home. The house is full of unique features and has a very comfortable homely feel.
There’s a lot of space to relax from the breakfast / dining / reading area to the sitting room with breath-taking views from all the windows to the river & gardens. Outside there are many beautiful seating areas to relax and enjoy the surroundings. There is even a hidden cabin in the woods overlooking the river. Heathers partner Adam could be seen working hard in the garden making the place look even more special.
Heather showed me to the ~Otter Room~ which was outstanding and better than some 4 star hotel rooms that I have stayed in with views over the garden and river, binoculars provided to catch the wildlife that passes by. The bathroom has a full length bath with a very hot power shower, lots of space and ever a crystal chandelier! TV selection is extensive - Netflix, Amazon Prime, Now TV and lots more to watch.
I spent a very relaxing few hours at the cabin in the woods with a cheese board & wine that I brought with me and heather gladly supplied me with a picnic basket filled with plates, cutlery, wine glass. On returning to my room I had the best night’s sleep in the very comfortable bed and woke refreshed looking forward to breakfast.
Breakfast was delicious. Choice of cereal, tea, coffee, fruit, yogurt, homemade jams, toast and cooked eggs. I had a table all to myself and Adam even lit the fire to make sure the room was warm & welcoming.
Heather & Adam are exceptional hosts that exceed expectations and will do everything they can to make sure you have a wonderful stay in their B&B. I cannot recommend River Bank House enough to anyone that want to experience a high quality B&B in an outstanding location. I guarantee you will become a repeat customer. I look forward to visiting again.

Take time to relax
