Humans of Hotel Doolin: Susie Keating ❤️

Twenty years ago, while the paint was still drying on the hotel, Susie had a very quick interview in the car park with none other than Paddy Burke. I’d have loved to have heard that conversation!

Susie’s been keeping us right ever since, running the floor in Fitz’s. She sees everything and doesn’t suffer fools. If you’re full of it, she’ll know before you’ve finished your sentence. She’ll tell you what she thinks, but she knows when a bit of diplomacy is called for too.

She works incredibly hard, does things properly, and cares about this place. She might be the smartest woman in North Clare. She could be off running a global conglomerate, but thankfully for us, she’s here. Through all the madness and chaos of the last twenty years, Susie has quietly helped hold this place together. She’s the real deal, loved by all, and a constant you can count on.

Outside work, Susie is a devoted mother to Ella and Jamie.

Word on the street is that she’s a closet crocheter and loves nothing better than to knit and crochet in the evenings with a little tincture of sherry.

And on a night out, she’s the absolute best craic. We’ve had some mighty nights together over the years.

Twenty years, Susie. We’re lucky to have you. ❤️

WE’RE IN THE TOP 10 IN IRELAND! 💚

We’re absolutely delighted to see Hotel Doolin named No. 10 in Ireland in the Irish Independent’s Hot 100 Hotels 2026.

We’re a small independent hotel on the west coast of Clare. We don’t have the resources of the big hotels or international chains, but what we do have is heart — and an incredible team who believe in what we’re trying to do, a community that has supported us for 20 years, brilliant local suppliers, musicians, artists and producers, and guests who keep coming back and becoming part of the story.

So being recognised among the Top 10 hotels in Ireland is a very big deal for us.
