Our Guild president, Georgina Campbell, was honoured with a EURO-TOQUES IRELAND award for her significant and lasting contribution to the Irish food and hospitality industry. Founding member, former Chair and current President of the Irish Food Writers Guild, Georgina Campbell has been a fixture on the Irish food and hospitality scene since she first came to study in Belfast in the 1970s. Beginning with a cookery column in the Irish Independent in the mid-70s, Georgina’s approach has always been rooted in a practical and down-to-earth respect for quality ingredients and support for chefs, local producers and suppliers. With many column inches, books and TV programmes to her name, since the early 1990s Georgina Campbell's Ireland – the Guide, the independently assessed guides to Ireland's best places to eat, drink, stay, learn and shop have been her principal focus. The website, ireland-guide.com, followed and has been a trailblazer, and the annual Georgina Campbell Awards are Ireland’s longest running independent food and hospitality awards. Her work over many years has created an invaluable structure of support, respect and acknowledgement for those working in every strand of the Irish food and hospitality businesses.
