Our gastrobar holds so much history if you know where to look 👀

Before our building was a hotel and gastrobar, it was a schoolhouse full of students for over a hundred years. Our location also saw the Battle of Mount Street Bridge, one of the bloodiest battles of the 1916 Easter Rising.

Next time you visit the Schoolhouse, have a look for the old school desk that now sits in a cosy corner of the Gastrobar, and the bullet holes that still show in our ceiling - Dublin’s history is all around you!

What’s on in Dublin: Ballsbridge Edition, October 2026 🍂

We reckon you’ve got the Bram Stoker Festival on your schedule already, but if you’re looking for plans to make before the Halloween festivities start, there’s plenty going on in our neighbourhood this October.

If you’ve got your Halloween plans sorted and want some things to do until then, here’s your list of music, theatre, comedy, and sport events happening this month at venues within a 30 minute walk of the Schoolhouse, including Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, 3Arena, AVIVA Stadium, RDS, and Gaiety Theatre.

(If you were thinking about trying our new pre-theatre menu but haven’t decided what show to go see, this one’s for you!)

Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is just down the road from us, and there’s still time to catch a show of the award-winning Matilda: the Musical from the Royal Shakespeare Company, concluding with a chilled performance version on 18th October.

Next up is the musical High Society from Trafalgar Entertainment running 20th-24th October, followed by a concert from bestselling classical artist Katherine Jenkins on 25th October.

For the rugby fans, Leinster has two matches right in our neighbourhood this month, facing off with Cardiff at RDS on 10th October, then with Munster at the AVIVA on 24th October. Stop by the Schoolhouse for a pre match pint or fuel up with our match day menu 🍻

3Arena has a busy concert schedule this month, and at just a 30 minute walk away, we’re in a great spot for your dinner and drinks before the gig or your hotel stay after.

Gaiety Theatre is an easy walk from us and also has a busy schedule for October, including several Dublin Theatre Festival performances and a great comedy lineup.

If you’re going to a show, make your evening complete with Schoolhouse’s new pre theatre menu, with two courses for €34.95 designed to get you to the show before the curtain rises.

RDS always has a wide variety of events and this October is no different - if you’re attending any of these, we’re in a great spot for a pint or a bite afterward, and if you’re visiting Dublin for one of them the Schoolhou

Going to the UEFA Ireland vs Austria match this week? Schoolhouse is just 1km from the AVIVA Stadium - come have your pre match pint with us and enjoy our Match Day Menu, or watch on the big screen.

And if you’re visiting Dublin for the match or just don’t fancy waiting for a cab ride home, we’ve got your room for the night and your full Irish breakfast in the morning!

Another sneak peak from our autumn menu: Ginger & Wasabi Crème Brûlée 🫚

If you’re craving a dessert that’s both rich and light, sweet and sharp, this is the perfect bite: smooth and creamy, bright and fresh, with just a hint of herbaceous heat.

Coming soon in October!

Our Cherry Bomb cocktail is one last sip of summer 🍒 A little sweet, a little sour, all refreshing, with bourbon and cherry brandy brightened up by a splash of lemon.
