There is loads and loads to do in the area. Here are some ideas.....
Fethard On Sea is a s
hort drive/cycle from our B&B. Lots of great places to have food, priced reasonably, great craic and all the Guinness you'll ever need. Of course you have to visit.... The Hook Lighthouse. Lighthouses have a magic and mysticism of their own, none more so than the 13th Century Hook Lighthouse. Just down the road is the infamous haunted Loftus Hall - Prepare to be spooked!! :-D
The beaches in the area are great, Dollar Bay, Booley Bay, Baginbun, and Duncannon Beach to name just a few. Both Dollar and Booley Bay are just a ten minute walk away. Duncannon Fort is a short drive away, built in 1558 in the expectation of an attack on the area by the Spanish Armada, Duncannon Fort incorporates a maritime museum, Cockleshell Arts Gallery, Officer's Mess Café and Craft shop. Kennedy Arboretum is a great family day out, 2km southeast of the Kennedy Homestead, the Arboretum has a small visitor centre, tearooms, a picnic area and a miniature rain tootles around in the summer months. Sunny season fun! Shelmalier Stables welcome all ages and all levels in a relaxed, friendly environment to enjoy their time with their well-trained horses and ponies. Also a short drive away is Tintern Abbey, founded in c1200 by the Earl of Pembroke, Tintern Abbey was a Cistercian abbey. Today visitors can see remains of the nave, chancel, tower, chapel, and cloister. Getting around
Visiting the area works best when driving, cycling or walking.
