Two restaurants you can't go wrong with (Hint, they’re just outside Galway City!).

Galway is the second biggest county in Ireland. It is certainly one of the more interesting places to visit in Ireland – with an impressive Atlantic way coastline, tall mountains, and the exceedingly beautiful Connemara region. It is no surprise to us, that you may spend your next vacation in Galway. Such is the impressive scenery and life the city is blessed with. That’s not to talk about the food!

Galway's booming restaurant's collection means locals and visitors are spoilt for choice. Price, location, cuisines, atmosphere are just some of the criteria people use to fish out the cream from the crop. However, to make sure you don't miss out on absolute gems, we help you with two must-visit restaurants.

You will find it hard to locate an older restaurant in Galway. Established in 1797, the place is over 300 years old and counting. To have been around that long means the folks there know what they are doing and do it well enough. Away from history now, the seafood here is great, wonderful and delicious. Combine with the drinks and atmosphere, it is perfect! Some of their popular treats include:
Mussels – traditional white wine sauce perfectly cooked. Local stream clams – some of their best cooking here. Juicy and perfectly cooked. The smoked salmon – crisped, thinly sliced and not overcooked. The crabs and proper prawns are also very good. And fresh. The fish and chips are something else. Flavored and delicately fried. And of course, all these come with exceptional service too. And if you can be here during the Galway Oyster shucking festival, by all means, the better!

For a fresh, real and undiluted feel of an Irish pub, stop by at Paddy Burkes. The oyster inn has been said to welcome even the big names like Hollywood superstar John Travolta and music legend Elton John. Heralded for its impressive collection of fresh oyster and yummy Atlantic seafood, and it much talked about intimate, cozy surroundings. This pub is a must stop. The food is great and they are very, very busy for the Oyster Festival held every September and rightly so, they are one of the hosts. Couple that with the wine, drinks, and coffee, which dovetail beautifully with the fresh, succulent seafood, you wouldn't want to be anyplace else.
