In this business you can never have enough storage for all your stuff from linen to shower gel etc. Having a huge living room that barely gets used we decided to carve it up. So now we have a big living room and plenty of storage.

So these are just a few pictures of what the house was like in the days leading up to our opening date 😃 was a tough but but enjoyable experience with the most difficult part being dealing with utility service providers. “A hard days physical work is the easiest thing you’ll do in your life” I once heard 🤔 I believe that quote to be true

Loads of workers on the job today. .ie doing work in the boiler house and replacing a shower. fitting cctv and servicing fire alarm, window repair man back to finish off a few bits and cleaners in sorting linen and doing whatever they can to be ready for our first guests this Friday who are a mix of Irish and predominantly internationals. I am really grateful to everyone who stepped up and is doing what’s needed to get the job done 🙏

Had an electric shower going hot and cold so I checked the filter. Hard to believe there was that much stuff clogging it, but great to know the filter was doing its job. And no need to isolate the water as there is a built in valve in the shower. All up and running again nice and smoothly. Another job ticked off the list . First guests arrive Friday.

Job Description:
• Turning over guest rooms
• Cleaning bathrooms
• Dressing beds
• Cleaning common areas (e.g. hallways, stairwells, sitting room)

Requirements:
• Valid work visa
• PPS number
• Irish bank account
• Ability to communicate in English
• Previous cleaning experience (especially in hospitality or similar)
• Work is in the morning and early afternoon

Finally after 3+ weeks of over and back with booking.com, waiting days for responses to messages, getting copy and paste responses, not getting things sorted when they claimed they were sorting things and wondering most of the time when I was talking to them on the phone if in fact I was talking to a human, we are now Live for booking on . We are looking forward to welcoming guests from the bank holiday weekend onwards. It has been an arduous task, but it’s ticked off the list now🙏. See the link in the bio.

Room appreciation: Room 3 is a very spacious triple room facing south west on to an open green space with a King size double bed, a single bed and an en-suite bathroom. Many of you may not know that appeared on & Majella’s B and B Road Trip a few years back, where they advised guesthouse owners on finishings / additions etc to make their guesthouse appeal to a wider audience. This was the room they slept in whilst visiting. Amenities include incredibly comfortable mattresses, top quality bed linen, wardrobe, dressing table, bedside lockers, luggage rack, flatscreen tv, extra pillows and blankets and a recently renovated bathroom to include a power shower.

I was giving everything a once over last night and I noticed a toilet was slow filling… easy fix I thought… bit of dirt in the ball valve🤔 took the washer out.. it had hardened and cracked … I’ll grab one in the morning in the plumbing shop… “Almost impossible to get he said”… try this one… didn’t work.. back to the plumbing shop and grabbed a new valve and a flexible hose… took out the cistern, valve… in with the new one… put it all back together… job done… so a 2 minute job turned into a several hours job… great to be capable of doing most maintenance myself so no cost for labour… big shout out to the plumbers doing this stuff everyday 🙏.ie among others… ye are tough men 💪
