Shandrum Garden Annexe, South Kerry

Beautiful early September day in Shandrum.

Lovely guests have just checked out after a 10 night stay and are returning home to the Black Forest region of Germany.
We are out in the garden now- the kids are back to school.
Plenty to do in the garden and polytunnel, smaller plants need potting on…. plenty of weeding after the rain. Veg needs picking 🥬 🥒

He is an excellent meeter and greeter of guests arriving to the Annexe!

He is also developing some great skills, getting our new cats to come in on a selfie with him 🐈‍⬛

We were meeting with family yesterday at The Lake Hotel, Killarney.
It’s such a stunning spot to meet for drinks or lunch and the private beach was irresistible to our youngest 💚☘️

Summer is flying! ☘️
I can’t believe we’re past mid August. We’ve had some great guests staying in Kerry who have travelled to Ireland from the Black Forest region of Germany 🇩🇪

They enjoyed their 8 night stay in Shandrum and left us a lovely review. It’s always so nice to give guests some ideas about exploring.

We made some suggestions including Beara peninsula inc. the Buddhist centre, Healy pass and Helen’s bar.

Killarney National park- of course and Kenmare. Ring of Kerry tour to include Derrynane beach and the Kerry cliffs.
Di**le and the Slea head drive would always be a suggestion for guests who have a bit more time.
But all that sightseeing still gives our guests some easy mornings taking it as it comes, watching the clouds pass the mountains and the ducks pottering around outside 🦆

When are you coming??! 🙏🏻

We are very booked up for September but there are a few shorter breaks and plenty of Autumnal availability ☘️

Heritage Week 2026 at Muckross Traditional Farms 🌿

From vintage vehicles and traditional crafts to blacksmithing, woodwork, storytelling, Irish music and dance, there’s a fantastic programme of events taking place at The Schoolhouse from August 16th–23rd.

Most events are FREE, with something different to discover throughout the week.

Plus, enjoy reduced admission to Muckross House and Muckross Traditional Farms on Sunday 16th and Sunday 23rd August.
