We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a true lady and a dear friend, Mary O' Gorman. She was part of our core staff here in Myles Creek since we opened our doors all those years ago in 1995. She was the backbone to building the place into the restaurant that it is today with her take on the Irish Mammy home cooked meals.
She was a woman who was the true definition of strength. She didn’t just endure life, she conquered each day with a work ethic that would put most to shame and a passion in her heart for standards.
She was a hard worker in the truest sense. Her buzz was the busy kitchen, a place of heat, chaos, and constant demands.
"Rest" was a foreign concept to her, she was the engine of that kitchen, the person who made sure every plate went out perfectly and on time.
Her dedication was both intimidating and inspiring. She didn’t just cook food, she sustained an operation with grit that was unbreakable.
But her strength wasn't just in her labour, it was in her kindness. Even in the adrenaline rush of a Sunday afternoon, she was the person who noticed when a junior staff member was struggling, or when one of her co-workers needed a moment of calm amidst the storm.
She cared for others with a fierce, protective love that extended far beyond the kitchen door. She was the one making sure everyone ate a proper meal after the rush was over. To be in her circle was to be looked after, checked on, and genuinely seen.
She leaves behind a legacy of calloused hands and a soft heart. She taught us that you don't get what you wish for, you get what you work for.
We don't just mourn her. We celebrate a life that was full, purposeful, and profoundly impactful. May we carry a piece of her fire and her compassion with us every day.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam🙏❤️
