💚🤍 EAST KERRY MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP | DIVISION 1 SEMI-FINAL 💚🤍

Killarney Legion 1-13
Dr Crokes 4-09

Our minor lads travelled to Lewis Road on Saturday for their East Kerry Division 1 semi-final against Dr Crokes.

Despite being without a number of players through injury, the lads produced a superb performance against a strong and competitive Crokes side.

It was a tight first half, with our boys battling hard throughout. A goal was ruled out just before the break, leaving us trailing by the narrowest of margins at half-time, 1-06 to 0-08.

Crokes opened the second half with two points, but our lads responded brilliantly, kicking the next five scores to take a two-point lead with just three minutes of normal time remaining.

Unfortunately, the game turned in the closing stages, with Crokes finding the net twice in quick succession to secure their place in the final.

Best of luck to Dr Crokes in the final.

👏 A MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGEMENT

As coaches, we are immensely proud of every one of the lads involved. They gave absolutely everything and we couldn’t ask for more.

This result sums up our season — so close, yet so far. Injuries and some difficult decisions have gone against us at crucial stages, but the lads have continued to compete throughout the year.

They have played Division 1 football all season and also competed in the County Championship, producing strong performances against quality opposition. Aside from our away game against a very strong North Kerry side in Tarbert, who went on to win the County Championship, we have been competitive in all our games.

There is a huge amount of footballing ability in this group. Our next step is to build physically, and we’ll begin working on strength over the winter to help the lads develop further.

A massive thank you to all the players and their parents for their commitment, effort and support throughout the year. It’s a great group of lads, and we are proud of what they’ve given to the team.

Heads held high, lads. There’s plenty more to come from this group! 💚🤍👏

🏆💚🤍 CHAMPIONS! KILLARNEY LEGION SENIOR LADIES DEVELOPMENT TEAM! 💚🤍🏆

Southern Gaels 1-09

What a way to finish the season! 🙌

Our Senior Ladies Development Team hosted Southern Gaels this afternoon in Johnny Culloty Park for the final of the Senior Development Championship, and what a fantastic game of football it was!

Legion led at the break by 1-07 to 0-07, with the evergreen Mairead O’Donoghue finding the net. 💚🤍

The second half was a tight affair, with both sides enjoying spells of possession. The pivotal moment came midway through the half when Orianne McGillycuddy hit the net, followed by a well-taken point from Emily O’Shea. Southern Gaels fought back with a late goal, but some solid defending and excellent possession saw Legion close out the game to claim the inaugural Thomas Brennan Memorial Cup! 🏆👏

A huge thank you to Southern Gaels for a sporting game and to referee Jason O’Brien for keeping things well marshalled throughout.

We would also like to sincerely thank the family of Thomas Brennan for their generous donation and for presenting the cup. 💚🤍

This was a fantastic end to the campaign, which provided valuable game time for many of our younger, up-and-coming players alongside some of our more experienced players. It was also wonderful to welcome back long-term injured player Kate O’Toole. 💚🤍

5 Legion players are involved in the Sem's squad for the O'Sullivan Cup Final on Thursday. Also on Thursday our u14's travel to Tralee for a Super 10s Blitz in Cahersalee.

On Saturday our Senior B Ladies play their first final against Southern Gaels at Johnny Culloty Park.
Also on Saturday our Minor boys take a trip to Lewis Road to take on Dr Crokes in defence of the East Kerry D1 Minor Championship.

💚🤍 SENIOR LADIES | DRAMA RIGHT TO THE FINAL WHISTLE! 💚🤍

Our Senior Ladies Development team served up another dramatic encounter this morning as they travelled to Abbeydorney for Round 3! 🏐👏

After drawing their previous two games, the Legion girls were once again involved in a nail-biting finish!

It was a tight contest throughout, with both sides working hard for their scores. Abbeydorney held a five-point advantage at half-time, having found the net on a number of occasions.

The home side extended their lead early in the second half, but the Legion girls showed tremendous character and determination to launch a fantastic comeback.

With the game in added time, Legion were awarded a crucial free, which was expertly dispatched to level the match and secure another draw! 💪🔥

No extra time today, but the result means our girls are now through to THE FINAL NEXT WEEKEND! 🏆💚🤍

Well done to the players and management on their never-say-die attitude. Best of luck in the final, ladies!

🏐💚🤍 U16 EAST KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP SEMI-FINAL 💚🤍

Killarney Legion 2-15 | Listry 2-10

🏆 FINAL BOUND! 🏆

Our U16 boys secured their place in another final this morning with a hard-fought five-point victory over Listry in wet and windy conditions at Johnny Culloty Park! 🌧️💪

Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, the lads were slow to settle and didn’t fully capitalise on the conditions. Listry found the net midway through the half, leaving Legion with a slender one-point lead at the break, 0-7 to 1-3.

Facing into the wind after half-time, the boys raised their game significantly, showing great energy, intensity and determination. They worked tirelessly all over the field and produced some excellent scores against the elements to seal a deserved victory! 👏

Well done to all the players and coaches on a brilliant team performance. We look forward to another final, with the date to be confirmed! 🏆
