Not many local residents are aware that over 5,000 shoeboxes, filled with toys and toiletries, were kept in a top-secret Banbridge location until last Friday, when they were shipped to destitute countries in the Middle East. The caring volunteers who painstakingly collected the donations over the past few weeks had been told to remain discreet about their hideaway base, for security reasons. This is actually the first time that a Banbridge location is being used to store the shoeboxes, on behalf of international development organisation ‘Samaritan’s Purse’. The boxes are now being distributed in a number of countries, including Iraq and Syria! :)
