Week 3 of our journey exploring the transformation of The Forum, Mountmellick ✨
The Church Hall tells a powerful story of renewal — where heritage meets modern hospitality 🤍

⛪ Once the altar space, now a warm and welcoming seating area designed for comfort and connection
🍷 The once structurally compromised hall has been reimagined into a large group space with a bar, seating and a feature gallery overlooking the space
🪑 Original church pews have been carefully restored and remain in use — preserving a tangible link to the building’s past

From “where stories first sat” to “same pews, new stories,” this transformation shows how a space once falling apart is now bringing people together 💫

Our approach is simple: honour the history, retain the character, and adapt with purpose.

Follow along as we continue to share this journey.

"“Step back to the 1780s…”

Long before The Forum-Mountmellick welcomed guests, this elegant Georgian manse was home to Mountmellick’s Presbyterian minister
— a place of quiet living, stories, and community life spanning over two centuries.

Today, its walls still hold that sense of calm
— but now it’s your turn to experience it. ✨

It’s official… we’re obsessed with sharing the best of Ireland! ☘️

We just picked up a "Top Fan" badge from Discover Ireland , and honestly, it makes total sense. We spend half our time scrolling their page looking for new hidden gems, coastal walks, and food spots to recommend to our guests when they stay with us at The Forum-Mountmellick Boutique Accommodation.

Connecting past and present! 🌍✨

We recently hosted Liz Edmundson (USA), a direct descendant of William Edmundson—a founding member of the Quakers in Ireland.

The day's itinerary, co-ordinated by Dolores Dempsey, was packed with heritage:

Mountmellick Embroidery Museum:
Viewing William’s travel journals (donated by James Edmundson) and a stunning cross-stitch of his voyages to the New World (America) by master stitcher Ann O’Brien.

O'Connell Square, Mountmellick:
Exploring the Quaker Meeting House and its original features. One of the oldest surviving Quaker meeting houses in Ireland

Friends' Burial Ground, Rosenallis:
After lunch at The Hare's Corner a trip to William's burial ground, where local historian Roy Meredith brought the history to life.

Huge thanks to the Mountmellick Embroidery Museum , Ann Sands, Beckie Harris, Rev. Lesley Robinson, Kevin Byrne, and Roy Meredith for making this such a memorable day for Liz. 🙌

Whether you're uncovering your quaker heritage or tracing your family line back to our historic town, we love helping guests like Liz walk the very paths their ancestors once called home.
