People often ask if I miss my work at US Africa Command and with the peacekeeping community since retiring 7 months ago. My answer often has been that I'm far too busy to miss anything. But in truth, I do - particularly the comradery of the various teams we worked with chasing rather lofty aspirations and ideals. So having a guest show up to stay with us in Ireland (Leo Quinlan) who is the son of the Irish commander at the Siege of Jadotville, the builder of Ireland's first Special Assault Group, an significant post-Army EU career, and now educator / speaker was truly a privilege!

Leo and his partners now run www.Moralinjuryinternational.com; something I was largely unaware of until their stay with us. Similar to PTSD, I highly recommend people visit their site and listen to some of their (fully free) educational podcasts. Fair warning - they can be a bit addictive..!

2023 is starting with a unique start…. As some of you may know, the Kilmahon Matriarch, Julia, is married to an American, Mike, who, for the last three years, has been finishing his service with the US Army in Germany. Leaving Julia to run things in Shanagarry solo. But that is over and he is on his way to properly join team Julia at the Kilmahon full time! 🥂

With the season coming to an end, and some winter time travel coming, we were worried our Kilmahon House would get lonely, so we're getting a house-pet. So-to-speak..... The Tiny House stork should arrive in a few weeks....!

Greetings Friends of Kilmahon House!

After a wonderful and rewarding short season last year, Kilmahon Guest House is delighted to announce its reopening on the 11th of April 2022.

Spring flowers in abundance are blessing the extensive gardens with their colors and fragrance, while seagulls and songbirds generously gift their melodies, and the salty ocean wind clears the minds and hearts.

We are delighted to welcome you back to Shanagarry and the Kilmahon – the Georgian gem that takes you back in time and away from your everyday challenges.

After long and painful COVID delays, we are now delighted to announce our reopening for the Summer on 1 July 2021!

We have completed the upgrades and refurbishments to our heritage home, a beautiful herbal garden has been nurtured, and the vegetable plots expanded to serve delicious homegrown salads, vegetables and fruits to our treasured guests.

We are delighted to welcome you back to Shanagarry and the Kilmahon – the Georgian gem that takes you back in time and away from your everyday challenges.
