Cassie O’Connor (2012–2025)
There are good dogs, great dogs, the best dogs… and then there’s Cassie. We were so lucky to have her come into our lives in 2012 and from that moment on, into the lives of so many others who met her along the way.
There were two things Cassie loved most in life. The first was meeting new guests. Like all great border collies, she was 100% committed to her role in minding the herd whenever guests came to stay, treating every person like part of her own flock.
The second was playing ball. Cassie left this world on Thursday, 16 October 2025, and despite her legs no longer working, she spent her final day catching tennis balls on the couch. She was truly the Pelé of dogs.
There will never be another Cassie, a dog so giving, loving, and kind. Thank you to everyone who petted her, threw or kicked a ball for her, or made her feel special. If she gave you even a fraction of the love she gave us, you’ll know just how incredible she was.
