Rossnaree School Of Art. The Rossnaree School of Art was founded in 2007 by artist Aisling Law. Students work in large studios under north facing natural light.

The Rossnaree School of Art is committed to the painting and drawing methods of the old masters, practiced by artists such as Velasquez, Titian, Sargent, and later by Picasso and David Hockney. Having returned from a year in a Florence art school studying drawing and painting, Aisling saw the need to establish a similar art program in Ireland. It was her aim to bring back the positive aspects of w

hat she saw at the academic schools. The school is dedicated to teaching traditional techniques in figurative painting, drawing and sculpture, focusing on the human figure. Every year, tutors from the Florence Academy and the Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence come to Rossnaree to direct courses. Past tutors include Irish artists Joe Dunne, Principal of the RHA (Royal Hibernian Academy) School Board, Samuel Horler from the Drawing Studio Dublin, I.M Laszlo, Gearoid Hayes and Harry Durdin Robertson.

An exciting summer lies ahead here in Rossnaree, book now so as not be disappointed!

HIGH LEVEL INSTRUCTION 3-DAY INTENSIVE WORKSHOPS DEDICATED TO TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES IN FIGURATIVE PAINTING, DRAWING AND SCULPTURE

SCULPTURE COURSE Students will learn the fundamentals of anatomy for sculpting the features of the human head in clay.
LANDSCAPE PAINTING COURSE Students will learn methods to establish a strong base and structure in approaching the landscape.
THE FAMED CLASSICAL DRAWING COURSE Sam Horler (The Drawing Studio, Dublin) will introduce students to representational drawing methods- Bargue’s Cours de Dessin.

COURSE DATES 2015:
June 12-14 July 24-26 August 14-16
June 18-20 July 31-August 2

One module (3days) costs €275. Two modules (2x3days) costs €520.
Materials included in Sculpture course and classical drawing course but NOT included in landscape painting course.

All fees include delicious, nutritious lunches using seasonal offerings from Rossnaree’s Kitchen garden.

Residential accommodation at Rossnaree is available, at €120 p/night B&B. Glamping at Rossnaree is also available, please enquire. Newgrange Lodge offers a reduced rate for Rossnaree School of Art students.

DONT MISS ! An Introduction to Bargue's Cours de Dessin THIS Weekend the 19th/20th/21st
A look into the Cours de Dessin Spring class. Many of the students here are tackling their first Bargue drawing. The course is specially designed for all levels from beginners to advanced.

As an introduction to the course students will begin with a pencil, copying from a selection of the reproduced 197 lithographs. Through this method students will learn how to approach drawing in a clear, logical and systematic way while moving on to more complex tasks. They will learn about how to coordinate their eyes, hand, body and mind when drawing. With the right instruction the Bargue prints are a brilliant device to develop in you an acute eye and accurate hand, helping you to express yourself easier.
