THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS OVER THE YEARS.
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NO LONGER PROVIDING B&B SERVICES.

08/07/2020

While we not be doing B&B until further notice mainly because of the risks associated with COVID 19 we do have a new facility in the form of a self contained Mews apartment suitable for a couple with one or two small children on a temporary bed. It consists of two rooms one bedroom with a double bed and the other a lounge with small kitchen, TV and own entrance. We are 2km from the beach and the town centre and provide ample parking adjacent to the Mews. The Mews is available from Monday’s to Friday and Friday’s to Monday.

Hi All
Thank you for your continued interest in Norlands B&B. We haven’t posted anything in a long time obviously because of the COVID 19 which has been dreadful for the whole country, hopefully you are well and hopefully the virus has not affected you.
We are writing this note to say that we will NOT BE DOING B&B this year 2020
because of the COVID Virus.
The new Government rules around B&B, social distancing
And the provision of traditional homely service and good foods in close company are not possible. So we have decided to bow out for this year.
We hope you have a great Summer and that you find somewhere nicer to stay for your holiday.

Best Wishes for 2020 and hopefully we will see some of you in 2021.

Hi All
Just a quick word for the August weekend.
Alltogethernow is on in Curraghmore House this weekend, not sure if they allow day visitors but what they have planned sounds great and it is designed to be family friendly. They are expecting 15,000 to attend and will have wall to wall music as well as a host of other activities and a fair ground.
Mount Congreve under the care of the OPW is looking wonderful. We were up there recently having a coffee in their cafe and did a tour of the beautiful gardens.
SPRAOI is on this weekend in Waterford with the usual spectacular parade and fireworks.
Tramore is looking great as a result of the hard work of the Tidy Towns Committee. We also have a host of new restaurants open as well as the re-opening of the Sands Hotel.
The Greenway between Waterford and Dungarvan is proving a great success with walkers and cyclists. It is 43km long and has a number of joining points some with cafes.
That’s all for now hope you have a great weekend.
We still have some availability so give us a call on (051) 391132 or 0863537410 if you want to get away for a couple of days.
Cheers

Hi All
All together now is on this weekend in Curraghmore house they are fully booked and are expecting 15,000 people to attend. I am not sure if they allow day visitors but you can look it up on Alltogethernow.ie. There are still lots more things to do in the area, we took a trip recently to Mount Congreve
Which is now in the hands of the OPW
who always do a super job of restoration. There is 70 acres of gardens including a number of walled gardens, and a cafe.
The Greenway has proved to be a great attraction for walkers and cyclists and has a number of entry points on the 43km scenic route well worth a visit, and it is free.
Of course the Waterford SPRAOI festival is on this weekend and as well as a parade they will also have fireworks. It is expected to attract 200k+ over the weekend.
Tramore itself is looking really great thanks to the Tramore Tidy Towns team.
Finally if you are thinking of having a break we still have availability.
Have a great weekend

Worth a visit

I can’t remember a more disappointing September weather wise. I am sure there were worse ones but I can’t recall them. Having said that I am pleased the farmers have the rain they wanted, at least those in the South East. As you might expect it is very quiet here in Tramore. The Brooklyn restaurant on the prom is proving to be particularly popular as many of the seats offer a sea view and Moes opposite it is a great magnet for coffee connoisseur throughout the week. No movement yet on what is going to happen to The Grand Hotel which was a victim of the recession and appears to be abandoned now, I understand the County Council are taking action to resolve the situation. it is fair to say that despite the current rainy weather Tramore is still an excellent place for an Autumn / Winter Break with lots to do locally and with Waterford on its doorstep. We get very positive feedback on the VR Viking experience in the Waterford Triangle. Winterval festival will be upon us before we know where we are. We hope you all have a great Autumn & Winter in anticipation of another sunny sunny Summer in 2019.

Well Altogethernow Festival was a great success in Curraghmore House we had some delightful festival goers staying and they really enjoyed it. I believe there was over 10,000 people attending. Congratulations to Lord Waterford and here is hoping next year will be even bigger and better. Here in Tramore it is racing time again with races on 16th, 17th, 18th & 19th. This meet is always well supported and this year my good wife has put a party together for the Saturday races. I’m not a great fan of horses however as we will have a table, a meal and a few drinks it looks like a good day and the weather is forecast to be good, and they take bets at your table, so all the essential bases are covered. If anyone has any tips that would be great. In common with the rest of the country we has one full day of ‘rain’ last week so hopefully that will help the farmers who are really feeling the drought here in the Sunny South East. The resort is packed now that the sun is back so it should be a busy week as usual for race week. The small kids will be heading back to school at the end of this month and the Secondary and Third Level students in early September. Personally I think September is the best month in Tramore with smaller visitor numbers and usually excellent weather.
Best wishes to all for the rest of the Summer.

Gosh! Almost the end of the season, well a few weeks to go. Delighted to see Lord Waterford’s ALLTOGETHERNOW event in Curraghmore House is being well received from the website it looks like they have invested a bundle in facilities and performers. I hope it goes really well for them and becomes as popular as the Electric Picnic, Portlaw needs something like this to rejuvenate it.
We had some lovely young Russians stay for a couple of nights, lovely people altogether, this was our first Russians we look forward to more. We have had quite a few Germans too from East Germany as was. It never occurred to me that their native language before the Wall came down was Russian, they really like being in the West. Lovely to meet all these different nationalities. Don’t forget the Waterford Tramore Races on 16th August to 19th. The racecourse is looking great after its recent investment. It looks like the weather will be fine for this coming weekend so enjoy yourselves wherever you are.

Isn’t it interesting that one might think every B&B and hotel room in Tramore was fully occupied throughout this recent warm spell. But no, Tramore has been jammers with day trippers during the week and especially at the weekend but those staying over are no more than previous years. I think that because people know the weather is going to be good they go to their local resorts or places they have never visited before, and quite rightly too. We had our Promenade festival a couple of weeks back and the Dog Show, when many of the top exhibitors stayed with us without absolutely beautiful show dogs. I got a great kick out of that but I think Mollys nose was abut out of joint. We are heading into the high season now and even if it is sweltering the sea breeze keeps us cool. Hope all of you are having a wonderful Summer and enjoying the good weather . . . We won’t even think about the Autumn or Wi***r yet. Enjoy yourselves.

Hi Guys
I have reviewed all of the weather forecast facilities at my disposal and it appears we here in the South East are due the best weather over the whole of the next week with it getting cloudier, colder and wetter the more up the country you go. In my short 20 years living here I usually find that these forecasts understate the good weather, I think they underestimate the effect of the warm on-shore breeze. We’ll see. It is certainly worth a thought.

What can I say Tramore is only jammers with people on this magnificent sunny day, it’s like a mid Summer day down at the beach and promenade. Cafes are packed, Kia and elderly alike enjoying the light on shore breeze. Temperature 15 dregs. Registration numbers from Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Cork, Dublin ( well it is so easy to get here with the near empty M9). Great to see people smiling again.
