🥰 Treacys Hotel Group were so proud and delighted to support the 'Watersport Inclusion Games', held at the Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club.
Over the course of the weekend, more than 1,100 people were brought onto the water, from about 450 registered participants. This illustrated that so many felt safe being brought down a pontoon and in some cases, being transferred by a sling into a boat. Not only the participants, but also their carers, were involved.
Sports included power boating, fast RIBS, sailing, disabled water skiing, paddle boarding, canoeing, snorkelling and rowing. For the first time, Dragon boating and tennis were offered. Not only did the disabled participants play tennis, but the Irish blind tennis team came and demonstrated their extraordinary skills. Lots of people subsequently tried this with blindfolds.
Also included were participants from the outer parts of Irish society including Syrian and Ukrainian refugees, migrants from Direct Provision and Travellers. The event was free to all participants and their families. Dinner was provided on Saturday evening, followed by a hugely successful magician show and then a disco.
The participants and their families were unanimous in their praise for the event and Treacys Hotel Group were delighted to have been able to support such a wonderful event. It is a tribute to everyone involved that the event went off so well. The CEO of Sport Ireland attended and agrees that the games have an enormous potential future.
We at Treacys Hotel Group were absolutely delighted to support this wonderful event!
