It's been another strange year and best laid plans went astray so I wasn't able to be active here.

I hope this finds you, your family's & friends keeping well at the end of what's been a very strange year!

Here's a bit of a mixture this time - we have our Vertex & Designer ranges.

The 2 pens on the left of the photos you find the Vertex Pen: it is a rugged, ready for anything hex-shaped pen. It uses a smooth click mechanism to extend & retract the Parker refill.

The Vertex Pen costs €40 plus postage and comes as standard with a black velvet pouch with the option of a wooden box.

The remaining pens in the photos are the Designer Pen is styled on an Old World & much-loved design emulating the world's most expensive writing instruments.

The Designer Pen costs €45 plus postage and comes as standard with a black velvet pouch with the option of a wooden box.

Here's another set we make at Irish Wooden Pens - this time it's our Designer Pen & Letter Opener Sets.

These sets feature the beautiful Designer Pen accompanied by a matching Letter Opener.

The Designer Pen is styled on an Old World & much-loved design emulating the world's most expensive writing instruments.

The Designer Pen feels solid & secure in the hand and shows off the grain of the wood perfectly. They are twist pens and use a standard Cross refill.

The Designer Letter Opener will coordinate perfectly with any Designer Pen.

For the finishing touch, these sets are supplied in a beautiful maple or bamboo box making an ideal gift at Christmas or any other time of the year.

Stratus Pen & Pencil Sets

Looking for a set .....

Here at Irish Wooden Pens we also make Pen & Pencil sets.

The ones featured here are from our Stratus range.

The Stratus is a beautiful range of single-bodied pens & pencils using a single piece of wood.

The Stratus Pen is a beautifully balanced pen which is based on a sleek & modern design. The Stratus pen feels solid & secure in the hand, is nicely weighted & balanced and uses a click / push button mechanism to extend & retract the Parker refill.

The Stratus pencil is equally well-balanced, feeling solid & secure in hand and uses a mechanical pencil mechanism to extend & retract the lead. The pencil uses a heavier 2mm lead so is much more robust than the standard 0.7mm mechanical pencil.

The pencil uses a heavy-duty, sturdy & reliable 2mm lead which makes it perfect for your home, workshop or office. The pencil includes an eraser & sharpener in the cap plunger.

The Stratus Pens & Pencils I have are available in 2 types of finish - Gun Metal (shown here) and also Chrome.

The Pen & Pencil Sets shown here are made from Spalted Beech & Pippy Oak.

The Pen & Pencil Sets are supplied in a twin presentation box in either maple or rosewood, making an ideal gift at Christmas or any other time of the year.

Here's one close to my heart & one of my passions - our Motorcycle Pens!

The Motorcycle Pens are beautifully crafted & machined pens bringing in elements from motorcycle design such as the single cylinder piston at the top of the pen, down through the shock absorber underneath, to the unique "kick-start" mechanism to extend & retract the refill and not forgetting the straight exhaust pipes which act as the pen clip.

The tip of each pen is in the form of the eagle's head with "Ride Hard Live Free" engraved above it.

The Motorcycle Pens are available in different types of finish including Black with Chrome & Oil Rubbed Bronze.

The pens featured here are Black & Chrome with Stabilized Buckeye Burl and Oil Rubbed Bronze with Spalted Taramind.

The Motorcycle Pens are nicely weighted, very comfortable to write with and feel very solid in the hand. The "kick-start" mechanism is a very smooth action and the pens take a standard Parker refill.

Each Motorcycle Pen comes with a velvet pouch as standard but, for the remaining two I have, I am also including a leather pouch. The cost for each pen, including pouches, is €80 plus postage.

And now for something completely different ....

Here's one of our more unusual designs, the Gr***de Pen.

The design for the Gr***de Pen comes from the classic Pineapple hand gr***de. The pen body is machined from solid Aluminium and features the safety lever, safety pin & pull ring.

The Gr***de pen is a click-pen where pushing the button / plunger on top extends the refill and pushing the safety lever retracts it.

We have the Gr***de Pen available in 3 types of finish - Antique Brass, Antique Pewter and Olive Drab (OD) Green.

The Gr***de pen is a beautifully weighted pen that feels very solid in the hand also making it easy to grip. It also takes a standard Parker refill.

The ones I have photographed here are, from left to right, Antique Pewter with Zircote, OS Green with Woodland Camo & Antique Brass with Bocote.

I have a very limited number of these pens available between now and Christmas - basically what's shown here plus 1-2 others yet to be made, but I will have more available in the New Year.

Each Gr***de Pen come with a black velvet pouch & leather pouch as standard. The cost of the pen is €80 plus postage.

This is a very unusual design and, while it won't be to everyone's taste, you'll be hard-pushed to find a more unusual pen for the Stylophile in your life!

Here's another one from our range, this time it's our Celtic pens.

The Celtic pens are available in 2 types of finish - Antique Brass and Antique Pewter.

The Celtic pen is a beautifully weighted pen that feels very solid in the hand also making it easy to grip.

The pen design features intricate Celtic Knot scrollwork on the tip, clip and end as well as an emerald color cabochon on the end

The Celtic pens use a twist mechanism and take a standard Parker refill.

We use a wide range of woods from locally sourced ash, oak, beech, spalted beech & others plus also a range of more exotic woods.

Given the nature of the Celtic pens we try to stick with native Irish wood where possible: some of the pens featured here are made using Bog Oak that carbon dating has shown to be thousands of years old.

Each Celtic pen come with a velvet pouch as standard and is €65 plus postage.
There is also the option of a leather pouch available.

This latest post outlines our range of Saturn pens.

The Saturn pens are available in 4 types of fitting - Gun Metal, Chrome, Gold and Antique Brass

We use a wide range of woods from locally sourced ash, oak, beech, spalted beech & others plus also a range of more exotic woods.

The Saturn range are slightly larger diameter than the Slimline pen previously featured: they are a very comfortable pen to hold & write with. They use a twist mechanism and take a standard Cross refill.

The Saturn pens come with a velvet pouch as standard and is €30 plus postage. I can also offer a maple wooden presentation box as an optional extra - this is ideal if you would like it to be engraved.

Back with some more of pens I make, this time it's our Slimline range.

These beautiful Slimline pens available in a number of fittings including Gun Metal, Copper, Chrome, Satin Gold, 24Kt plated and more. .

As for woods used, the pens can be made in a range of locally sourced or exotic woods.

The Slimline range are light and comfortable to write with, they have a twist mechanism and take a standard Cross refill.

The Slimline pens come with a velvet pouch as standard and is €25 plus postage. I can also offer a maple wooden presentation box as an optional extra - this is ideal if you would like it to be engraved.

Continuing our series highlighting the types of pens that we make, here is one of our 0.30 calibre bullet pens. This particular one is made from Bocote which is a wood from Central South America. It's in a matt black finish and has a bolt action mechanism. It's very comfortable to write with and takes a standard parker refill.

As usual, can be made in a range of locally sourced or exotic woods and also acrylic. It can come in a range of finishes - gun metal, chrome antique brass and matt black. Comes with a velvet pouch as standard.

This is one of our Phoenix pens, it's absolutely gorgeous and an amazing pen to write with. It's representing a pheonix rising from the flames, resilient, proud and strong. As with the dragon pen, it's a standard twist mechanism and takes a standard cross refill. It's available with antique pewter or bronze fittings, and comes with a velvet pouch as standard. This particular one is handturned Irish Bog Oak with antique pewter.
