Dublin Theatre Festival

Clifden arts festival September 17th running for 11 days.

This is the longest running community arts festival in Ireland now heading into its 49th year.

The lead acts this year include, The Stunning, Lunasa, Bressie and Eddie Reader.

National Ploughing Championship Sept 15 – 17

This is the 95th ploughing competition in Screggan, Co Offaly.

It is now an institution in Ireland and the highlight of our farmer’s calendar.

Over 350 ploughing competitors across different classes, including horse, vintage and modern classes.

It’s not all about the ploughing though there is also Livestock competitions, sheep shearing, machinery and of course tractors.

Another highlight of the day is the “Brown Bread Competition”

Fashion shows, welly throwing, music and lots of family entertainment.

A spectacular event – that is why it is now in its 95th year and still going strong.

It’s been a busy summer and thanks be to god the weather was so good, especially for the kids. They at least spent most of it outdoors!

That does not mean that the “mammys” had a break, between endless meals, trips to the beach, excursions, suncream and late evenings it was exhausting!

So, now that all the “back to school” fuss is done – how about time out for the mammys?

Listowel Races

This is one of the big social racing weeks in Ireland. It’s much more than just going to watch horses — the town is buzzing for a week.

Every day there is a mixture of flat and jumping and the course is right beside Listowel town.

Be prepared for live music in the bars. The ladies are dressed to kill, if you want to see the best of fashion then Friday 25th is “Ladies Day” always a great day out.

The atmosphere is amazing, a real buzz.
It’s like the last blast before the summer is finally over.

You could spend the day at the races and head to Ballybunion to stay. We have a great selection of holiday homes there; they will book out for the festival so book early.

Waterford Food Festival – Sept 4-6

One of the favourites on the festival calendar for the South-East.

A promise of amazing food experiences throughout the weekend to include Waterford’s Harvest Festival Food Lovers Global Taste Trail.

Mary Coughlan is playing and free outdoor entertainment from Mick Hanly along with many others.

Comedy, canapes, workshops and foraging in the forest are some of the activities.

This should be great craic – definitely one of the better Harvest Fests.

To cap it all off – check out River Lodge in Blackwater, one of our premium holiday homes, it’s not far from the action and it’s a stunning property.

Killarney in Colour
If you need a bit of colour in your life, then check out this Irish artist “Maser”.

He began his career as a street artist and evolved into painting murals and has exhibited extensively across Ireland and Internationally.

If you are taking a trip to Kerry this September we highly recommend a stop off in Kenmare (just 30 minutes from Killarney).

Maser will be creating a new mural at Finnegan’s Corner taking in Kenmare’s history and heritage.

His work is so uplifting, full of colour and energy. This should be a fantastic addition to this beautiful town, and you might get the unique opportunity to see this artist at work.
