On June 9, 2026, French President Emmanuel Macron awarded the insignia of the Legion of Honour to His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, during a ceremony at the Élysée Palace, in recognition of his commitment to serving the people of the Holy Land and fostering dialogue among peoples.
