বিশ্ব গন্ডার দিবস: আসুন, এই বিশাল প্রাণীর সুরক্ষায় আমরা এক হই! 🦏
আজ, ২২শে সেপ্টেম্বর বিশ্বজুড়ে পালিত হচ্ছে
'বিশ্ব গন্ডার দিবস' 🦏।
২০১০ সালে WWF-আফ্রিকা কর্তৃক শুরু হওয়া এই দিনটি গন্ডার সংরক্ষণের প্রয়োজনীয়তা সম্পর্কে বিশ্বব্যাপী সচেতনতা বাড়াতে এক শক্তিশালী মঞ্চ তৈরি করেছে। এই দিনটি আমাদের মনে করিয়ে দেয় যে, গন্ডার শুধু একটি প্রাণী নয়, বরং আমাদের বাস্তুতন্ত্রের ভারসাম্য রক্ষার জন্য অপরিহার্য।
#গন্ডারের প্রজাতি ও ভারতে তাদের অবস্থান
বিশ্বে গন্ডারের মোট পাঁচটি প্রজাতি রয়েছে।

এর মধ্যে দুটি প্রজাতি আফ্রিকায় (সাদা গন্ডার ও কালো গন্ডার) এবং তিনটি প্রজাতি এশিয়ায় (এশিয়ান একশৃঙ্গ গন্ডার, সুমাত্রান গন্ডার ও জাভান গন্ডার) পাওয়া যায়।
♦️এশিয়ান একশৃঙ্গ গন্ডার (Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros):
এই প্রজাতিটিই ভারতে প্রধানত দেখা যায়। এদের শরীরে বর্মের মতো ভাঁজযুক্ত চামড়া থাকে। ভারতে এদের সবচেয়ে বড় আশ্রয়স্থল হলো আসামের *কাজিরাঙ্গা ন্যাশনাল পার্ক*, এছাড়া পশ্চিমবঙ্গের *জলদাপাড়া ও গোরুমারা ন্যাশনাল পার্ক* এও এই প্রজাতির গন্ডার দেখতে পাওয়া যায়।
❓সংরক্ষণ কেন জরুরি?
তাদের অস্তিত্বের ওপর সবচেয়ে বড় হুমকি হলো চোরাশিকার। শুধুমাত্র কুসংস্কার ও লোভের কারণে তাদের অমূল্য শিংয়ের জন্য এই প্রাণীগুলোকে নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করা হয়। এই শিংয়ের কোনো প্রমাণিত ঔষধি গুণ না থাকা সত্ত্বেও, এটি অবৈধ বন্যপ্রাণী ব্যবসার একটি বড় অংশ।
বিশেষ করে ভারতের জন্য গন্ডার একটি গর্বের বিষয়। আসামের কাজিরাঙ্গা ন্যাশনাল পার্কের সফল সংরক্ষণ প্রচেষ্টার কারণেই একশৃঙ্গ গন্ডারের সংখ্যা আজ অনেকটাই বেড়েছে।
পরিবার হিসেবে আমরা বিশ্বাস করি, দায়িত্বশীল পর্যটন এবং বন্যপ্রাণী সংরক্ষণ একে অপরের পরিপূরক। ভ্রমণপ্রিয় হিসেবে আমরা শুধু দর্শক নই, আমরা এই সংরক্ষণের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ। আমাদের প্রতিটি জঙ্গল সাফারি, প্রতিটি হোটেল বুকিং এই ধোঁয়াহীন শিল্পের মাধ্যমে স্থানীয় অর্থনীতিকে শক্তিশালী করে এবং সরাসরি সংরক্ষণে সাহায্য করে।
আসুন, এই বিশেষ দিনে আমরা সকলে মিলে প্রতিজ্ঞা করি যে, গন্ডারের পদচিহ্ন যেন প্রকৃতির বুকে অনন্তকাল ধরে থেকে যায়।
World Rhino Day: Let's Unite to Protect This Majestic Animal 🦏
Today, 22nd September, "World Rhino Day" is being celebrated across the globe.
This day, started by -South Africa in 2010, has created a powerful platform to raise global awareness about the urgent need for rhino conservation. It reminds us that rhinos are not just animals, but are essential for maintaining the balance of our ecosystem.
*Rhino Species and Their Locations in India*
There are a total of *five rhino species* in the world. Two of these are found in Africa (the White Rhinoceros and the Black Rhinoceros), and three are found in Asia (the Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros, the Sumatran Rhinoceros, and the Javan Rhinoceros).
♦️Greater One-Horned Rhinoceros:
This is the species primarily found in India. They have armor-like folded skin on their bodies. In India, their largest sanctuary is **Kaziranga National Park** in Assam, and this species can also be found in West Bengal's **Jaldapara and Gorumara National Parks**.
❓Why Is Conservation Essential?**
The greatest threat to their existence is poaching. These animals are brutally killed for their precious horns, driven by superstition and greed. Despite having no proven medicinal value, rhino horns are a major part of the illegal wildlife trade.
For India, in particular, the rhino is a matter of great pride. Thanks to the successful conservation efforts at Kaziranga National Park in Assam, the number of one-horned rhinos has increased significantly.
As the family, we believe that responsible tourism and wildlife conservation are complementary. As travel lovers, we are not just spectators; we are an integral part of this conservation effort. Every jungle safari we take and every hotel booking we make strengthens the local economy through this "smokeless industry," directly contributing to conservation.
On this special day, let us all pledge to be mindful of the conservation of rhinos and other wildlife. Our collective efforts will ensure that the footprints of these incredible animals remain on nature's bosom for eternity.
