Rooms can be either a twin/double/single. Each room is attached with a western toilet system with provision of hot and cold water. Intercom in all rooms. Free Wi-Fi access is provided to help you update your status and post holiday photos to your friends and family. In the event of a power failure, there is a backup invertor which will restore power without notice. We have basic first aid available. If you need a doctor, there is a hospital about 1 km from the Cassia Mansion Homestead. Authentic Kerala Cuisine- Complimentary traditional Kerala breakfast is part of the homestay experience. Enjoy the fresh, aromatic and flavored food of Kerala blended with Coconut served on a Banana leaf. Also experience the delicious breakfasts of Kerala like “Puttu and Kadala”, “Appam”, “Dosha” “Idiyappam” etc. Let us know in advance if you have health or religious food restrictions. We can then let you know what is possible. The menu of the day depends on seasonal vegetables from the farm and village and the catch of the day. കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും നീളം കൂടിയ നദിയായ പെരിയാറിനു കുറുകെ, 839 മീറ്റർ ഉയരമുള്ള കുറവൻ മലയെയും, 925 മീറ്റർ ഉയരമുള്ള കുറത്തി മലയെയും തമ്മില്‍ ബന്ധിപ്പിച്ച് പണിതുയര്‍ത്തിയ, ഏഷ്യയിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ കമാന ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള അണക്കെട്ടാണ് ഇടുക്കി അണക്കെട്ട്. ചെറുതോണി, കുളമാവ് അണക്കെട്ടുകള്‍ കൂടി ചേര്‍ന്നതാണ് ഇടുക്കി ജലസേചന പദ്ധതി.1932 ൽ മലങ്കര എസ്റ്റേറ്റ്‌ സൂപ്രണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഡബ്ല്യൂ. ജെ. ജോൺ ഇടുക്കിയിലെ ഘോരവനങ്ങളിലൂടെ നായാട്ട് നടത്തുമ്പോള്‍ കൊലുംബന്‍ എന്ന ആദിവാസി മൂപ്പനെ പരിചയപ്പെടുകയും തുടര്‍ന്നുള്ള യാത്രകളില്‍ വഴികാട്ടിയായി കൂടെ കൂട്ടുകയും ചെയ്തതോടെയാണ് കുറവന്‍-കുറത്തി മലകള്‍ ശ്രദ്ധയില്‍പ്പെടുന്നതും അണക്കെട്ട് എന്ന ആശയം തിരുവിതാംകൂര്‍ സര്‍ക്കാരിനു മുന്നില്‍ സമര്‍പ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതും. പിന്നീട്, 1940 കളിലെ ക്ഷാമത്തിനുശേഷം സർക്കാർ കർഷകരെ കൃഷിക്ക് അനുയോജ്യമായ മലവാ‍രങ്ങളിൽ കുടിയേറിപ്പാർക്കുവാൻ അനുവദിച്ചതോടെയാണ് ഇടുക്കിയുടെ പ്രകൃതിഭംഗിയും സുഗന്ധ വിളകളും പ്രശസ്തിയിലെക്കുയര്‍ന്നതും 1961-ൽ അണക്കെട്ടിനായി രൂപകല്‌പന തയ്യാറായതും. തുടര്‍ന്ന് 1976 ഫെബ്രുവരി 12 ന്‌ അന്നത്തെ ഇന്ത്യൻ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ഇന്ദിരാഗാന്ധി ഈ ജലവൈദ്യുത പദ്ധതി കേരളത്തിന് സമര്‍പ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. സുരക്ഷ പ്രാധാന്യം കണക്കിലെടുത്ത് ഓണം, ക്രിസ്മസ് എന്നീ വിശേഷ അവസരങ്ങളിലും പൊതു അവധി ദിനങ്ങളിലും മാത്രമാണ് ഇടുക്കി അണക്കെട്ട് സന്ദര്‍ശകര്‍ക്കായി തുറന്നുകൊടുക്കുന്നത്. ഇതോടൊപ്പം ഇടുക്കി റിസര്‍വോയറില്‍ ബോട്ടിംഗ് സൗകര്യവും ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ദൂരം.. കൊച്ചിയില്‍ നിന്നും 104 Km.

കേരളത്തിന്റെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ ഭൂമികയില്‍ ഒളിമങ്ങാത്ത ഓര്‍മകളായി മാറിയ സ്ഥലങ്ങളില്‍ ഒന്നാണ് ആലപ്പുഴയിലെ മാരാരിക്കുളം. മാരാരിക്കുളത്തിന് ആ പേര് ലഭിച്ചതിനെ കുറിച്ച് ഐതീഹ്യം ഇങ്ങനെ പറയുന്നു... പണ്ട് വ്യാപകമായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്ന തഴപ്പായ നിർമ്മാണത്തിനാവശ്യമായ കൈതയോലകൾ ശേഖരിക്കാനെത്തിയ ഒരു ഉള്ളാട സ്ത്രീ, കുളക്കടവിൽ കിടന്ന കല്ലിൽ അരിവാൾ തേച്ച് മൂർച്ച കൂട്ടാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചപ്പോൾ കല്ലിൽ നിന്നും രക്തം ഒഴുകിയെന്നും, കല്ല് ശിവലിംഗമായിരുന്നുവെന്നും പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. പിൽക്കാലത്ത് ആ കുളക്കരയിൽ മാരാരി (ശിവലിംഗം) പ്രതിഷ്ഠിക്കപ്പെട്ടുവെന്നും ഈ പ്രദേശം മാരാരിക്കുളം എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെട്ടു തുടങ്ങി. പരമ്പരാഗതമായ ജീവിതരീതിയില്‍ നിന്നും അധികം മാറാത്ത ജനതയാണ് മാരാരിക്കുളത്തേത്. മത്സ്യ ബന്ധന, കയര്‍ നിര്‍മ്മാണരംഗത്ത് നിര്‍ണായകമായ പങ്കുവഹിയ്ക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലമാണിത്. സമീപ പ്രദേശമായ കഞ്ഞിക്കുഴിയില്‍ ജൈവകാര്‍ഷിക വിളകള്‍ നന്നായി കൃഷിചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്.
