Nanda Devi is the beloved daughter of Kumaon and Garhwal. In the Nanda Devi Raj Jat, thousands of devotees carry her doli about 280 km on foot, from Nauti through Bedni Bugyal and Roopkund to Homkund. A sacred four-horned ram leads the way.

Here in Almora, she has always been family, from her temple in the heart of town to the Nanda Devi Mela every year. And from our hills in Kasar Devi, you can see her Himalayan home on a clear morning.
