DMIC in Maharashtra covers Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Nashik, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Pune, Dhule & Nandurbar districts and influences on 18% of the total area of the state. Out of all these cities, Aurangabad is part of the DMIC Early Bird project which includes Shendra-Bidkin Industrial Park and the International Convention Centre proposed over an area of 8400 hectares. in phases, will see the opening of many industries with players from the national and international markets joining the league
As part of the DMIC the Government of Maharashtra has decided to develop the Shendra - Bidkin belt in Aurangabad as planned industrial townships to act as major investment node. The Industrial park is to come up on 8400 hectares of land i.e. 20756 acres. Renowned US firm, AECOM, has been roped in as a consultant for planning the township. The state has also decided to rope in a Japanese consortium to recommend use of technology for infrastructure upgrades in these areas. Based on the investment potential of an area, the state has plans to develop the Aurangabad belt as an automobile and engineering hub. An Exhibition and Convention Center is being developed at Shendra.near Aurangabad on around 250 Acres land providing world class Exhibition and Convention Centre including hotel and entertainment facilities and transit connections. Will serve to provide a location for meetings, conventions, trade shows, public shows, arts and local interests which will attract more investment, employment generation and economicdevelopment of the region. Recently the Government of India has announced a New National Manufacturing Policy. Under this policy, seven National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZ) are proposed to be set up. It aims, setting up of mega industrial towns on waste and infertile land acquired by the government. Shendra - Bidkin Industrial Park will be one of them.
