i is located on the mound of village Katha on the banks of river Yamuna in the National Capital Region of Delhi on Delhi-Saharanpur-Gangotri (The source of river Ganga) Highway. The 15 year long painstaking and meticulous process of extensive restoration, reconstruction, renovation, refurbishing and furnishing, completed in 2009, has brought this more than 700 hundred years old structure to its glory of the era gone by. Today, commanding a majestic view of the Yamuna, the fields and the vast plains as far as the eyes can see, the Mehrabon Wali Haveli is adorned with Chajjas, Chhatris, pillars and columns, stone jalis, jharokas, fountains, exquisite doors and hundreds of Mehrabs. The Haveli's six Guest Rooms with modern attached Bathrooms, four Lounges, a Hall and three Special Rooms have been aesthetically, tastefully, elegantly and artistically furnished, preserving the great heritage and ambience of the era gone by with the comforts of now. In the middle of a living Indian village but away from all distractions and yet so close to the capital city of Delhi, Shikwa – Mehrabon Wali Haveli with its beautiful and romantic Guest Rooms, Lounges, Halls, Special Rooms, Gardens and Courts, Baradari, Sports Court and the loving and affectionate hospitality of its owner Shariq Bin Raza, his wife Alka and son Sahil, is an ideal place for an experience of the lifestyles of the royals, the nobles and the landlords of yesteryears, for rest and recuperation and the luxury of leisure. A heartfelt and profound thank you.

This past weekend, on the 16th, something magical happened. Within the ancient, embracing walls of our 700 year old family haveli, time seemed to fold in on itself. The whispers of centuries past met the vibrant, living voices of our present, and the result was nothing short of breathtaking.

The Shikwa Writers Festival was more than just an event, it was a promise fulfilled. A promise that these old stones, which have sheltered generations of our family, would once again become a sanctuary, this time, for stories, for heritage and for the powerful, unifying magic of the written word.

To every speaker who shared their wisdom ; you didn’t just lead sessions; you breathed new life into these courtyards. Your discussions on interpreting heritage, building bridges through stories, and sharing unfiltered voices created echoes that will resonate within these walls for years to come.

To every participant who walked through our gates ; you brought the most essential ingredient: your spirit. Your curiosity, your engagement and your shared love for culture transformed this historic home into a living, breathing hub of connection.

To see a Haveli that has stood for seven centuries once again filled with the energy of Kathak, the buzz of literary conversation, the scent of pre-Mughal cuisine and the book releases… this is why we preserve. This is why we open our doors.

The festival may be over but the stories born here are just beginning their journey. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us write this beautiful new chapter in our haveli’s long, long story.
