The work for adventure tourism companies, resorts, parks, lodges or campgrounds. They will have to take clients white water rafting, fishing, hunting, or mountain climbing, depending on the season and on their skills. Often the work is seasonal, and, depending on the type of guiding, the hours can be irregular.

Crowned as the ‘Land of High Passes’, Ladakh is nothing but a paradise for trekking enthusiasts and bikers. The territory is a part of Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir; thus, being a sensitive place on Indo-China as well as close to Pakistan, Indian Army’s rigid presence can easily be seen. Indian Army operates the highest Air Force Base in the entire world at Leh, which is the largest town in Ladakh Valley. People in the province are majorly Tibetian Buddhist and Shiya Muslims.

Ladakh is considered as the highest plateau, located at around 9,800 feet above the sea level, between Himalaya and Kunlun Ranges. Many places in Ladakh are situated close to the Indus River such as Leh, Shey, Basgo etc., or even, the entire Upper Indus Valley is included in Ladakh. The region does not contain high peaks though it is on the lap of Himalayan Ranges. It is known as the desert at high altitude due to the rain shadow fell by the Himalayas. Thus, rivers and melting glaciers are the primary sources of water.
